I know that we will always carry Grandma in our hearts and minds, but it sure feels good to be able to see and hear her on "Mom's Life" and "Internet Granny". Thanks to all for keeping our family connected through this website. Love to all.

Hi, Family! Merry Christmas to all! It was a very unusual Christmas at our house this year. With Charles and the boys in Jacksonville at Stacey's, I spent the night at Melanie's, then came home this morning to clean house and cook for the gang that gathers here every Christmas evening. We had tons of food, including a Christmas King Cake with candles on it, so that we could all sing "Happy Birthday" to Jesus. We had great fun opening gifts, playing "air hockey", and playing with all the toys that the kids got. Everyone has just left, and I've just loaded the software for my new Kodak DX3700 digital camera. Hope to be able to email family pictures real soon. May the peace and love of Christ Jesus be with all of you this day and all through the new year. Love.

LET US ALL LOVE EACH OTHER AS HE LOVES US. AND LET US ALL FORGIVE EACH OTHER AS HE FORGIVES US. AND LET US THANK HIM FOR OUR FAMILY. Pat's address is resweb4@aol.com . We finally got things going for her. Still having trouble with setting and she is learning how to do it. She got on line 1 time and no one was on for her to IM. We will try again. She willbe home on Friday afternoon with the grandkids so they will help her with the computer. We are in the process of writing her little directions for her to follow. She can turn it on and off by herself. Monique will be coming home on Friday. Can not wait to see her. We will be doing some power shopping that day. Happy Birthday Aunt Jeanette. :) Hang in there! Daiel had a basketball game last night and they won by over 25 points. Dan even scored 4 points. Mom and I will be traveling to see the games when they are close. They will be playing in Slidell in January so maybe we will stay over at Butch and Nancy's if their home. Boy you are sure are busy, Cynthia, good to hear from you. Becky went to check out the Sugar Bowl ticket situation this morning. There were 50 thoussand season ticket holders wanting tickets and there are only 15 thoussand tickets available. We still do not know how we stand except for the tickets they give to the football players. What a mess. Danny says he has the best ticket in the house. His big recliner and all the snacks he wants and his own private restroom. Christmas is approaching fast and we all know that God gave us the biggest gift of all, His son Jesus Christ who gave us a greater gift, Himself, his life for us. When your children open their stockings full of gifts, invision a stocking for Jesus and fill it with love for others, kind deeds, personal scacrifice, and thanks to God for all you have. God bless you all and keep you safe from all evil. Enjoy your big family meals(who is having oyster dressing like at grandma's?) and like Jenna and Jewel say when they pray before meals..Thank you Jesus for this food and don't let it make us FAT. They crack me up. I will picture all of us just relaxing after dinner and watching the football game. Look for us! I will try to let ya'll know where we are sitting before we leave. Well, have to run, ya'll write to mom. Love you all! Martha Louise

Hi, Everyone: Stacey had the baby Friday night - Michael Aaron Pereira. He weighed in at 7lb 3oz and 20 1/2" long. All are doing fine and should be going home today (Sunday). Charles and I had gone to Jacksonville two weeks ago while she was bedridden (before the doctor told her it was safe to deliver), and then we had to return home the next week. Charles, Michael and John Paul will be going to Jacksonville Christmas Eve morning and returning the day after Christmas. I'll be staying at Melanie's house Christmas Eve and Christmas morning, then having our traditional Christmas Day open-house that evening. We wish all of y'all out there a very happy and blessed Christmas Season. Love to all.

Uncle OP, I went to set up mom and I need an telephone splitter. I will be going to Wal-Mart today and will try to finish tonight or tomorrow morning. I will be going with mom to a city party tonight and might not have time to get it done. Her computer is ready and her desh is all set up. The kids are trying to teach her how to use the computer. She can now turn it on and off by herself. I really think she will like it, she says she uncomfortable with it but once she gets started she will like it. Glad to hear you are coming in for the holidays. Maybe we can have you all over for a visit before we go to the Sugar Bowl to watch Jacob #45. Look for Jacob, he will be the good looking one. HE HE:) Well, wwe are doing better over here. It took us two weeks to get over the flu. Now Eugene's kids are getting sick. The weather is hot then cold then rain then hot and all over again. No wonder we are all sick. Nancy, how are things over there? Carolyn, is Anna in yet? Uncle Lionel and Aunt Gloria, how are things over there? Mike are you spoiling that grandbaby? Kent and Kelly, what's up over htere? I know you all have computers, let us know how things are going. Daniel was live on TV yesterday. He represented the 4H group during our Food for Families Food Drive. He was soooo nervous but he did a fine job speaking. He said how great it made him feel to give to others who were less fortunate and needy and that the Lord says to bless others and you shall be blessed in return. Way to go Dan. Well, have to run. Love to all and have a Blessed and Safe Holiday. Martha Louise

Boy was that a game! LSU is on their way to the Sugar Bowl and so are we. Oh my, Jacob in the Bowl! they showed Jacob in the pregame show twice. Right after the game Becky and Dean made reservations for the game and almost all of the hotels were booked up already. New Year's day in New Orleans...oh my. haven't done that in a long long time. Not used to the city life anymore. A bit nervous to go. Good to hear from Aunt Betty. Dan's soccer team are the Champs, undefeated. Yea!!! Way to go Kyle, you hot stuff. My Christmas tree looks so nice, grandma's balls all over the place. Really miss dad and grandma. Moms tree is just perfect, just as dad daid it would be. She fixed it just like he wanted it to be. We have been eating dad's grapefruits and satsumas. He had such a green thumb. Jewel and Jenna spent the weekend with Danny and I and are still with runny noses. I got out today. How are you all in California? Monique is back at school and won't be back home until the 20th. She got the promotion with the University so has to work. Danny went to bring her some gumbo and boudin yesterday. She really enjoyed that. Well getting tired and need some sleep. Hope you are all well and keeping you in our prayers. Martha Louise

Hello to all. The Huey's in CA send best wishes for a wonderful holiday season! We have been enjoying a very pleasant holiday season, celebrating the joy of family with the arrival of our newest member. My grandson Jason and his wife Wendy were blessed with the birth of a daughter, Dakota Lynn Fails, born on November 20. Dakota is my second great grandchild, and is a beautiful bundle of pure delight. She weighed in at 7 pounds 9 ounces and is happy and healthy in every way. Uncle Grandpa Don has decided to call her "North!!" Hope you all have a very merry Christmas and a happy and prosperous 2002.

Hi everybody1 Holiday greetings to all of you. Are we all on a diet since Thanksgiving to lose just enough weight to gain back on Christmas Day! We have the flu going through our area...It started off with Daniel then Jenna then Danny, then Jewel, then Martha, and now me!!! the girls and I have been at the "Hebert Infirmary" for the last twon nights trying not to spread the flu to the twins or Dean. Dean and I and the kids are going to be leaving Friday to go to Atlanta for the big SEC Championship football game....watch for us on tv we will be sitting on about the 30 yardline on LSU's side. Jacob earned his way on to the travel team and we are so proud of him for that, however the SEC limits the number of players they can bring to the Championship Game (stupid rule) so Jacob will find out tomorrow if he is going with the team or with us, either way, he'll be at the game. I'm going to bring a sign saying we love you MeMe so watch for the sign. If Jacob does dress out he is number 45. Watch for him on the sidelines. Martha said she saw him on TV 3 times last week when they played against Auburn. It's the first time in the history of LSU football that the team makes it to the Championship game. If they win we will be going to the Superdome for the Sugar Bowl and if we lose we will be travelling to Dallas for the Cotton Bowl. Jacob said he will definitely be dressed out for the Bowl game. We are hoping that they won't need him in either game because if he plays only one down he will lose his redshirt year. He is the second team deep snapper and will probably only have to play if the first team deep snapper gets hurt. He has not played a down this year at all but he is so excited to run out of the tunnel with the team. He is working really hard and is confident that he will have a starting position on the team next year. He now weighs a solid 255 pounds and is working to get up to 270! He's still my baby boy though! The twins are excited about missing school Friday to go to the game and Jewel loves to dress up in her little LSU cheerleading suit (it used to be Monique's). I have some great photos and will email them to Uncle OP for the album. Gotta go, the medicine is starting to kick in! Love ya'll, BECKY

HELLO...HELLO...IS ANYBODY OUT THERE?...TESTING - 1 - 2 - 3.......is there something going on that I don't know about?...hello...hello? Just got back from the hospital with Michael, who had some "minor" surgery done, and he is doing fine. Stacey was having contractions over the weekend but is home now - hope she can wait another few weeks to deliver "Little Michael". Melanie was in a near-miss auto accident yesterday as she was getting off of work - she was stopped on the Interstate in traffic and in her rear-view mirror saw cars bouncing off each other and veering off the road into trees, so she quickly pulled off onto the shoulder of the road - just in time for the car behind her to come to a screeching halt right where she had been stopped - and the cars behind them crashed and turned over, trapping three people inside. She dialled 911 on her cellphone and began to help take care of the injured. She had her scrubs on - and people were calling "Nurse!" "Nurse!" but she was thinking to herself: "Unless these people are having a baby, I can't do too much! since I'm only a tech in labor and delivery." But it comforted them thinking she was a nurse. Thank God she was able to pull her car out of harm's way. Love to all.

Hi Family! Happy Thanksgiving to everyone! I give thanks today for these most important things: OUR FAITH, OUR FAMILY, OUR FRIENDS...and OUR FREEDOM! Charles and I had to change our plans for going to Florida for Thanksgiving. Charles has a touch of pneumonia again, and the doctor has him on antibiotics and wants him close to home for now. We thought about just going with Michael and John-Paul to Picadilly for dinner - but I couldn't bear the thought of being in town and not having a big Thanksgiving dinner spread out on Grandma's table. I ran to Albertson's at 8:30 last night and got everything to make dinner for today - turkey, dirty rice, cornbread dressing, artichoke casserole, candied yams, peas, rolls, pumpkin pie, pecan pie, and lemon icebox pie. Let's hear what the rest of you had for Thanksgiving dinner - there might be some recipes I need to get from my family out there. Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I miss you all. Love and hugs.

Hi, everyone: Charles and I are busy getting ready for a houseful of company this weekend. His nephew's daughter is getting married this Friday night. It's going to be huge (500 invited) they own a seafood market and restaurant here in Slidell, and they have a huge family and know so many people! Stacey, Dennis and Ian are coming in from Jacksonville, and Charles' sister, Catherine and her husband, James, are coming in from Atlanta. Stacey went for her final ultrasound today - and found out she's having a BOY!!! Her 4 year old, Ian, picked out the name "Michael" - which happens to be the name of Charles' oldest son. Stacey tried to suggest to Ian that the new baby's middle name be Michael and asked him what they could pick as his first name - Ian said, "Uncle". I have two more days to work this week - then I'm off until about the middle of January. Hurray!! Charles and I are going to Jacksonville to Stacey's new home for Thanksgiving, then we'll go to Vero Beach to visit his cousin, then we might make a stop at Disneyworld for a few days. We had planned to take Ian and Chelsea with us, but their mothers were concerned about their safety (not because Charles and I are a lot slower than they are), but because of suggestions of it being a possible terrorist target. Charles has been having a lot of problems with his back lately. Of course, he's not making any appointments for the doctor to check it out - he's relying on it easing up when he stops lifting and moving heavy things around the house as we get ready for the holidays. Stacey is due on January 3, but her doctor says she'll probably be early - maybe a Christmas Baby! If she has not had the baby by Christmas, Charles, Michael and John Paul will go to Jacksonville for Christmas, and I'll stay here with Melanie, Eric, Joey, Bo and Chelsea (I can't leave Mel at Christmas time). Then when Stacey has the baby, I'll go to meet Charles and greet our new grandchild. Having grandchildren is so much fun - Charles and I spoil them so much - as we should!! Got to go finish cleaning up some more tonight. Last night I got 4 hours of sleep before I had go get up to go to work today - and I thought I'd go to bed early tonight - HA HA. Love to all.

Hello everyone again. I have more time now. Daniel went to Louisville, KY for an international livestock show and won Reserve Grand Champion in Showmanship and an 11th with his pig. The trip was all expenses paid too. He did very well it was a great big show. He even sold his pig up there. $$$$$$ yea, Dan likes that. He is president of the 4-H club at school and Jared and Jordan are members. He is doing well with grades too. I am going to get some of Monique's stuff in Ruston tomorrow. I really miss her. She will be coming home for a week and than back again. She is doing really well in school with her grades and she sees graduation soon. I am trying to have mom set up with a computer by Christmas. She really wrote the message herself and did very well. She will learn how. Eugene is doing better. I had lunch with him today and he is getting around as long as he takes his medicine. His back surgery went well according to the doctor. He won't be back at work for a while. Carolyn, we saw Kimberly and she is looking great. She has a real job and an office in Lafayette. Way to go ! Now she can stay and be with mom for some time before the next mission. She told us that Anna is going to be coming in for Christmas and we can hardly wait to meet her. Let us know know when and where. Thanksgiving is coming up and it makes me think of Grandma and Aunt Elaine again and the time they learned how to use the computer and all the internet cards they got and how grandma made us copy them all. She went through soooo much ink. But it sure made her happy. :) She showed them to everyone who came throughthe door. I have so much to be thankful for and give God all the glory. I sure miss dad. This was the holiday he loved most. I hope I can remember how to fix the cornbread dressing like he showed me. Well, I think this is the longest I've written. Sorry! I love you all, Martha Louise.

Hello, Everyone, We are Back from pulling Meredith's Horse 2087 miles to and from Wash. DC!!!! It was quite an adventure that we will treasure the rest of our lives! Thank you David and Lucia (and the little ones!) for picking up Meredith and Kimberly at the airport and delivering them safe and sound to our hotel!!!! Thank you Uncle OP, and Shirley, David Lucia (and children, again, they were real troopers!) for coming to the MCI Center and being with us to watch Meredith ride! I am so proud of her for having the courage to ride at that caliber of show and do so well. She rode and looked so calm, unlike her mom who stayed huddled in her seat saying the rosary the whole time! Cathy Wright, Robert's sister from Lafayette was also there to cheer Meredith on, as well as Kimberly's boyfriend, David Khoo who took a bus from New York to DC just to see her ride (and of course be with Kimberly!) Anyway, I could go on forever about our experience, but, bottom line is that she finished 11th overall, nationally and I am so proud of her, I could just bust! A special Thanks to Uncle OP for being there with camera in hand to capture her round on tape and to put in on his web site, it is also on Dad's website, along with some candid pics! So, please go to their sites and see our little girl ride!!! Hope everyone is doing well and is happy in their lives! I love you all! Carolyn

Hello out there! I just talked with Nancy and Butch and we got an update on Mary , Mario and the kids. They were able to get their car out but are still unable to return to their home. They were stopped by the National Guard. She was told the building was unstable. They are staying in a beautiful condo(Mario's mothers) 3 hours from the city. Mary said it was really bad and the smell!! :( We should keep them in our prayers. Thank you Uncle Roland and Faye for having mom and I over. Aunt shirley and Uncle OP are still lookin' good. Hello, Thanks everyone for all the prayers,Mary is fine and so is her family. I can't believe what happen. We all feel numb. I was on the phone with Mary when I saw the first building, she had said they had just got knocked out of bed, she lives on Church St. 1 block form the WTC. Then I had called back and was on the phone with her when the 2nd building was hit, Mario was on the roof on the 4th floor, he is a photographer,he had thought it was an accident untill he saw the plane. I spoke to them again a few minutes later and they were leaving. Then I didn't hear from them for an 1 1/2 hrs. I knew the first building went down...It was awful waiting to here from them...They ran with their children and dog being chased by the dust cloud from the first building going down. Thank God they are ok. They do not know about their building and Mary said she doesn't know if she can even go back. Our prayers go out to everyone. Uncle OP and Aunt Shirley we hope you make it home safely. Our love to everyone.

Hi, everyone! Sat with Butch and Mrs. Frey this morning for Nancy's surgery. She did great - had her gallbladder removed (?laproscopic?) in less than 2 hours! She was still real sleepy this evening when I stopped by to visit, but the rest will be good for her - they're keeping her in the hospital overnight for observation, and she'll go home tomorrow. Both Michael and John Paul have moved into their new houses - boy it sure is quiet around here - in between visits from the grandchildren, children, family and friends. Charles had been having some hearing problems lately (not just the "husband tuning out the wife" thing), but total loss of hearing in one ear, and the doctor told him today that he believes he may have a hole in his eardrum. His blood pressure is also real high so he's started on medication to correct it. It's been a long day, so I'd better get some sleep. Love to all.

I'm back. Daniel played his first game of the season and their team won. they all played a great game against the state champs, Houma. Daniel is starting center and he scored the only TWO TOUCHDOWNS by our team. His snaps were like bullets. Jacob taught him well. We have another game on Friday at home. He even did that with his pants falling off. We forgot his belt and his team mates kept pulling his pants up for him. I even got his touchdown on film. Mom and I drove the boys because the bus broke down. We got back around 10 at night. It was great. On Saturday, Eugen and Jared and Jordan's games were cancelled due to the rain. But, we went to see Jacob play and sat in the mist the whole game. It never really rained hard but just enough to aggrivate us. Becky will tell you all about the game. Just came back from seeing Mo in Ruston and she is working hard at getting all the girls in the dorms. Buh Bye for now. Love Martha Louise PS Nancy's surgery was not serious, gallbladder problems.

All those babies are soooo cute! Hello Uncle Melvin and Aunt Jeannette! Glad to hear from you. Yes mom is excited about her new pad. She just about has everything in place. She didn't like her shower head so we have to put another one on. Her car is in the shop this week. A few things to fix and she put a trailer hitch on it so we can put all the wheel chairs in and hit the road. We can really shop now. HA HA We bought a little 4x6 trailer to put my motor chair in. I am still doing well, but am not supposed to walk for very long distances and for a long time. We can now put moms chair in there too. We have far to park when we go to the football games and it is easier for us to just push her around instead of stopping every 10 feet. We have lots of football going on around here. Daniel's first game is on Friday in Houma. He is varisty starting center. Gooo Dan! Eugene is playing football too and his game is on Sat. morning and the twins are playing also and they have a game at 12 noon on Sat.. And of course Jacob is playing on Saturday night. What a crew! Mom and I sat last week and watched Eugene play in a rain storm. We got soaked. We had one umbrella and no rain gear. Picture that. HE HE Mom had white pants on too. We sat like troupers through the rain. that I guess is what you do for grandkids and nephews. Eugene knows we love him. Rain is talking over and we will be probably watching LSU in the rain. No umbrellas are allowed. Picture us all....OH MY. Monique's boyfriend Timothy Clyde Hancock of Ruston gave her a pearl and diamond ring. We haven't seen it yet bu Mo says it is beautiful. Yes he is God sent. We love him. I'll send Uncle OP a piccture of them. Monique cut her hair in one of those sassy style. She looks great! Waiting to see the wedding pic from Mexico. Gotta run. Hello everyone. We are keeping busy with visiting the new grandsons. I just put a picture of Karen's and Richard in San Diego in the Lilmoma Family photo gallery. I also have more on http://www.opditch.com. Karen went there in June, but I just got ahold of the pictures recently, so they are on line now. Shirley and I are preparing for a trip to San Diego ourselves on Sept 5. We will meet high school buddy Gerald Reaux and vacation with them in SD. I will be going to the Redskins game against San Diego on Sunday, Sept 9 at 1pm west coast time (3pm in LA, and 4 here in VA).

Hi! Well Meredith is back in school, 8th grade! Still riding and waiting to see if she will qualify for Washington International. Daniel is working offshore, waiting for Ana's visa, and Kimberly is staying in Malaysia until December~! Everyone sounds to busy, It is really great to have this chat room or we would not know anything that is going on with each other. Grandma used to keep me informed on everyone. Aunt Gloria, your pics look great, I hope you are feeling as well as you look. I love you, you know! Perry and Richard, congrats on those new babies! Enjoy every minute!!!!! Becky, I know how proud you are! Your new wardrobe will consist of purple and gold for quite a while! Eugene, I haven't heard peep from you, I left a message and you didn't call me back, CALL ME COME BY! I miss you (not that you are busy or anything!) Martha, Yes, I will help with the reunion, we need to talk about it. Aunt Pat, I know how excited you must be about your new home! I can't wait to see it, I miss you. And how about all of our California cousins!!!!! You all look great and happy! Just wish I could see all of you more often. Karen, you have a beautiful family and your daughter looks just like you! Hello everyone. Hope everyone is feeling well. We are having a 24 hour virus run through our family over here. Becky, Dean and myself all had it the same time. Yuk! Daniel is back in school and playing football. He too is the deep snap. Jacob did a good job showing Daniel how it is done. He is starting now on varisty. Our school plays flag football so you have to be pretty fast on your toes. The first game is next Thursday, can't wait to sit in the heat. HA HA Monique is still in and is going to be going back to TECH University on Monday. Danny and I will have to bring her and all her junk. Those girls sure have lots of stuff. Hey Perry, do you know where Monique can get music sheets for her soprano sax. She wants to play in church so she will need some Praise and Worship music. It is very hard to find around here. Maybe a good company we can order from. Mom is doing great and feeling better. She was having a bad reaction to some medicine she was taking and it was making her cough alot. Carl took her off and she will be seeing him soon. Aunt Gloria you are looking good in that picture with the deer. THANK YOU JESUS. Well have to run for now. Love to all and may God keep you all safe and healthy. Martha Louise

By the way, Jacob is officially #45 now. He was number 80 but the starting punter is #80 so I guess they are figuring if Jacob has to go in to deep snap he can't have the same number as the punter. Going bring the boys to school. Talk to ya'll later;-) Becky

Hey everybody! Congrats to all of the newcomers! (Perry and Michelle -- great name for a baby boy --Jacob!) does anybody get Sports Illustrated? Jacob told us that the magazine had taken pictures of the team during their karate classes this summer and when Dean went to a local gas station someone there told him that Jacob is in the photo of the L.S.U. team in Sports Illustrated! Well, I can't find one anywhere in Lafayette, New Iberia, much less St.Martinville! I think it's the August issue, it's one with 2 college football players on the front. If anybody can get one for me I would love it. I would be happy to pay for the magazine and postage if someone does find one. Jacob is doing great at L.S.U. As a freshman he has made the 2nd team deep snapper position and has a very good chance of moving into first position during the season with a little more consisitency in his snap. The first team deep snapper is smaller than Jacob and so maybe his size will help him move into the first team spot. School started again for everybody else here today (the twins were even up early to go to school!) and Jewel is back in preschool. It was amazingly quiet here today! Luv to all, Becky

Hi Family: Had a wonderful visit with Aunt Bettie and cousins Don and Dave. I hadn't seen my cousins for about 35 years! We did the tourist thing at the plantations, Harrah's, and the French Quarter. Uncle T.J, Aunt Virginia, Aunt Alina and cousin Larry were able to come for a day, so we had a mini Thayer family reunion. It was great fun and we enjoyed having them all here. When they left, they were headed for a cruise out of Miami (they should already be back by now). Well, it's late and I just finished working on a project for my boss in N.O., so I better get some sleep. Love to all.

Happy Birthday Uncle Roland and Francis!:) Hey Butch, Danny got some money back from that site you talked about. He got $45 and Eugene had 6 cents. Nothing for me but will try under Becky and Dean in a moment. Thanks! We have to show proff of when we lived in Breaux Bridge. $45 is $45. We are going to see Jacob at the Press Day at LSU. He has been seen on the sports news for practice. He is also on the offiI up site for LSU Sports under the 2001-2002 Roster. He is so handsome. They will have his write up soon we hope. The weather is still hot down here and we are still getting rain in the afternoons. Well, I guess I will make the first move to plan the family reunion next year. I will be calling on cousins for help here. Our new additions are sooo beautiful. Hope to see them next year. Have to run for now. Love to all out there, remember to keep Jesus in your hearts. Hi guys, Martha again. Becky and Dean and the crew just came back from vacation and boy are they tired and sun burned. They had a good time but she needs to rest now. I am rested and it was real quiet around hear for a few days. We are planning to go fishing in Gulf Shores with my dad's sister, Noonie and my cousins. They live right on the Gulf of Mexico. She just came in to visit us for the day. We had a nice visit. Mom has been working very hard at the Acadian Memorial finishing a video. I watched it and she had really done a fine job. She is even in the video and she does very well speaking. Her legs are looking beter and she is just about ready for a little trip. Maybe she will come fishing with us. Show pig time is coming up soon and we will be heading out to the show barns. Danny is more excited than the kids. He works so hard with them and wants them to do well. He is so knowledgeable that the vets call on him for advise about the pigs. Jacob starts football practice on Aug. 6 and he is so excited. Chances look good for him to start. He has to prove himself and he has the inner drive to do so. Monique and I are tackling painting her bedrooma nd Dan's when she returns on Sunday. My bedroom is next. Then we will tackle the upstairs. It is tooooo hot now. Well, have to run and print out the LSU football schedule for mom. Lots of love to all, Martha Louise

Hi, y'all!! I've just about recovered from going down to Bourbon St. after Melanie's friend's wedding a couple of weeks ago. Charles was supposed to accompany Melanie, but chickened out at the last minute. 23 of us were deposited on the corner of Canal Street and Bourbon at 11:30 p.m. and were told that the bus would be leaving for Slidell at 1:30 a.m. The bride (in her elegant wedding dress) and her groom (in his tux) led our parade down into the Quarter (11 long blocks) to The Cat's Meow, and then we took over the balcony of a a lovely establishment down the block, where we proceeded to throw and catch beads from the crowd! Only 8 of us made it back to the bus in time (by the hardest - Melanie, the maid of honor, had to take her shoes off for the last block or so). All Mel's friends told her what a "cool mom" I was. I don't know about "cool", but I'm a survivor! What a night!!! Charles has just gotten over a bout with a slight case of pneumonia, and he is going to be taking Bo and Chelsea to the Elks Lodge here in Slidell (he became an Elk last month) to swim and fish this week. Can't wait for Aunt Bettie, Dave and Don to get here - I really need her reassurance about selling this old house so Charles and I can do a lot of travelling in the near future. I think Uncle T.J. and Aunt Virginia, and maybe some of my other Thayer cousins might be coming in for a visit while Aunt Bettie is here. Sure do miss all of you! Love to all.

This is one of the MOUTHS OF THE SOUTH. HE HE!!:) It is something when all three of us get together in person.(Martha, Nancy, Carolyn and add Eugene and we really have some talking going on). Just a thought for those of you who don't write too much or too often. When I write these notes on Grandma's site I feel like I am talking to Grandma. You see, we used to talk for at least and hour or so everyday after her story, Young and the Restless. I really miss those talks and so I use this to take its place. Not the same but I it makes me feel good. If you notice, I always sign Martha Louise because that is what Grandma and Lucille used to call me. Oh well! Carolyn, great to hear about the wedding, You better save those stories for when we get together. You old party animal. How long is Kimberly out for? Daniel is on vacation again with Becky and Dean in San Antonio. They went to the Alamo and some big water park. I have Jenna with me and boy are we having fun. She is the queen of the house and is watching all the Barney she wants with no intruptions. She runs back and forth from my house to moms. Monique is off to gospel Camp for boys this week. She is a volunteer in Ruston. Last week she volunteered for girls camp us there too. She will come home for about 3 to 4 weeks after that. We will be finishing our house, painting her and Dan's rooms and the porch. Our figs in the orchid are about ready and we have beautiful grapefruits and lots of oranges too. They are still green but the trees are full. Danny is still delivring pigs. We have lots of little pigglets. Mom is doing OK. She has her good days and her bad days. That is understandable. Eugene is getting his house in shape, the kids have slept upstairs in their new rooms and they were really excited. Well, have to run. Jenna needs a breathing treatment and it is lunch time. Hello to everyone and may God keep you all safe and healthy. Love, Martha Louise

Hi Everyone, We made it back home. What a week we had in Laf! So here it goes, we had a great showing at the 12 year old USSA Major World Series. The Shockers made it all the way to Friday, so we played all week. There were some great ballteams from Washington State, Southern CA.,TN,Neb.Ms,Al,OK,AR(South Fla.including kids from Cuba on their team)and all over...What a hot week of ballgames! Kyle gave it 110% he played great! We are so proud of him. He pulled his achilles in his foot on Mon. then we padded, taped it and he played on...On Thurs. he was hit by a pitch when he was at bat. it was the worst sound. the pitch was thrown at about 70 to 75 miles per hr.. thank God he is ok, it hit his hand, nothing broke, so they taped it the next day he switched hit left handed and played on hitting 3 out of 4 in the last game. What a way to end the season. He needs a lot of rest and so do we!!!!Thank you Uncle Roland and Faye for the pizza dinner, your new home is beautiful,Uncle Melvin you are looking great, sorry we miss you Aunt Jennette hope you are feeling better,Martha sorry we only played during the day and we missed you all..Thursday night they had games till 2:45 in the morning but we were not there thank goodness. Carolyn and Robert we had a great time looking at the wedding videos..they really know how to party..Daniel, Anna is so beautiful, we cant't wait to meet her and welcome her into the family..Mer thanks so much for coming to see Kyle play we loved having you with us. I can't tell, Carolyn is this one longer than yours or Martha's??? Baseball you got to love it!!! can't wait to next season....Butch is asking is it hunting season yet??? Love to everyone

Well, Daniel is married to the most beautiful and sweetest girl that I could imagine for him. Ana Lydia Ramarez de la cruz James will make a wonderful addition to our big beautiful family. I cannot wait until she can come back to the states, it looks like it might take about 2-3 more months, but possibly sooner. Everyone please pray that it doesn't take much longer. The trip was pretty incredible and the wedding mass was beautiful BUT, the reception was the most fun I think I have had in a very long time and the latest that I have stayed awake in a long time. (You know Eugene and Perry, old cousins go to bed early!) But we danced and carried on until 4:30am! They have so many traditional (Fun) things that they have to do at receptions and they all involve music and dancing. (I even danced with the band, only once!) They had 4 lead singers that all danced like Ricky Martin, so what would you expect me to do??? There is so much to say, but I will tell stories until I am very old! Kim is in Malaysia right know setting up Life Teen, so everyone, please pray for her health and safety. Meredith is doing just tremendous, she just got back from 2 weeks showing at the Biltmore Estate Classic. She was at the top of every class she completed in! The girl can ride! In 3 weeks she is competing in the Prudential Pony Finals in Ashville. You have to qualify by earning so many points during the year. She will be riding 2 ponies. Well, I feell like Martha, we just both have so much to say, and say it! Love to all, Hope everyone is feeling well these days. Much love, Carolyn

Hi, Family: We've sure been busy around here. July 1 we had 75 people over at our house for Charles' family reunion (only one cousin and her husband couldn't come). What a party! The next week Charles and I and his two brothers and one sister went up to Hogansville, GA to his sister's house to visit with her prior to her surgery for a brain tumor on Friday the 13th! She did great - awake and rembered all the promises she made everyone make prior to surgery). She goes home from the hospital today. This Friday, we're giving a rehearsal dinner here at the house for 30 people for Melanie's best friend, Donna. Looking forward to having Aunt Bettie and family here to visit with us in a couple of weeks. The boys will both be moving into their new houses within the next two weeks. Still not fully retired yet, I'll be going back and forth for the next month or so. (p.s.: decided not to change internet providers) Love to all.

Hi everyone! Mom is just ab out in her apartment. We have finally moved all of the things out of the motor home. The move has really been trying on us all. the motorhome leaves our house for some repairs and cleaning up and mom is really not looking forward to it. Her apartment is so beautiful. Thank you Uncle Roland and Faye for coming to take mom out. She really needed that. She lights her candles and ejoys the smell. We have put the motorhome up for sale. If anyone knows someone who is interested please have them give mom a call. Butch and Nancy and the kids came over on Saturday for lunch and we had a nice visit. Daniel and i went to see Kyle play ball. We had a good time watching him and Butch in the dug out. Lots of little boys in the same area don't smell like a rose garden, take it from me. PeeU!!! They will be coming back to play in Carencro next week and we are hoping to have a chance to watch him play again. We have another addition to our family too. Daniel has a reg. choc. lab retr. puppy. He calls him Gus. For those of you who did not know my dad's birth name was Gustove not EL Resweber Jr. He changed it later in life. Glad he did too!!! Oh well, Daniel calls his new companion Gus. He sure misses his Old Pop. Monique and Daniel are going to a church retreat in Ruston this weekend. So I will be going to the craft show with mom. I will take pictures soon of the apartment but mom wants it to be cleaned up. It is still raining over here. We have lots of water everywhere. Danny is in hog heaven, his momma pigs are having piglets left and right. He wanted the Thayer's to stop buy and see the deliveries but they passed on that. Maybe next time. We pray that all is well out there and look forward to hearing from Carolyn and the wedding adventure. Buh Bye for now. martha Louise

The travelers have arrived back home in one piece. Our flights were very nice but the drive back home was a bit much. Thank you Uncle OP and Aunt Shirley for having us over to the Ditch Hotel. We truly had a great time with you both and loved seeing Washington, Virginia and Maryland. David and Lucia have a beautiful home and jonathon is such a sweetheart. Karen it was great to see you and thanks for letting us use the van. I know you couldn't wait to get back in the bigger car with those children who have such long legs and lots of stuff. Hope you all had a great time at the beach. We really enjoyed the weather up there. Daniel and I got to go into the WEST WING of the White House because it was the only way to get to the handicapped ramps. There was a press conference about to start with the President and we had to take another route. It was soooo cool. We went behind the scenes and through the press conference area. We went real slow to check it all out. We even picked up leaves from the trees that were planted by the first ladies long long ago. No we did not pluck any tree or flowers from the grounds. Everything was so great and Aunt Shirley was the best cook.....lobster, stuffed shrimp, steak, what ever we wantd. I am sure she will do the same for any visitor. It was great! I can say that retirement has really agreed with them both. The condo is very nice. The traffic is too fast for me. Very fast and would have never made it driving over there. The police would have kicked this country girl off of the roads. Congratulations to all in California. Beautiful baby!!! Carolyn, how was the wedding? Mom is doing better and not really looking forward to having the motor home sold and moving in the apartment. The trtansition seems to be hard for us all. Please keep us in your prayers. Mom is feeling better. I will take picutres as soon as we move in. Well, have to run for now. Have to get to the bank. Lots of love to all and good to hear from you Aunt Bettie. Love, Martha Louise

Hey everyone! Glad to hear everyone had a great 4th! I am sorry that I was unable to get to DC to see everyone though. Well my summer is almost over, I start back with Marching band camp on July 16th. Michelle is doing good and the doctor told her that we will have a full sonagram on the 16th. The doctor said that the baby is growing fast so he might enduce labor early, around the end of July instead of August 10th. We are very excited and will keep everyone posted. Thanks to everyone for keeping us in your prayers. We are looking forward to a great visit from David, Lucia and Jonathan this weekend. Love you all and have a great week.

We made it to Virginia! Uncle OP and Aunt Shirley have been nice enough to let us stay in their new condo. There is a lot of sight seeing. I have been pushing my mom around Washington D.C. We walked to the White House from about twenty minutes away. And guess what almost happened! I almost flipped my mom out of the wheel chair. HAHAHA. There was a small curb in one of the entrences to the museums and i didn't notice and she had to woble and grab the door to stand up. There was no crafts to buy Nanny. It is just a bunch of demonstrations on craftmanship. It was a long day but I'm ready for another one. Well I'm hungry so I guess I will go eat. Love you all.Buh bye.

We still have a mess to clean up but no problem. Monique is still in summer school and will be home for three weeks. Thank you Jesus! I sure sleep better when she is home. Hi, everybody! I've been out of touch for a few weeks - moved my office to another room so we can re-carpet, and am in the process of changing internet providers. Will be changing to Bellsouth in a week or so. Charles and I are still working on this old house getting ready for a housefull the weekend of July 1 - Ian (Charles' grandson) will be here for his 4th birthday party on Saturday, and then we'll have a family get-together on Sunday. I get to take a few weeks off of work so we can keep Ian with us in Slidell so Stacey (pregnant and due early in January) and Dennis can get some rest back in Jacksonville, FL. Bo is excited about taking advanced art classes this summer, and Chelsea is going to summer camp. Boy, to be a kid again!!! We're still drying out over here - the water came up so quickly Sunday night that one of our cars got a foot of water in it before we could move it! No water in the house, thank goodness! I was going through withdrawals until tonight - not being able to check the Chat Room since the beginning of June. It sure is great to hear what's going on with my family. Love to all!

Well, we sure are proud of all of the Ditch kids that are excelling!!!! Congrads to all! 2 weeks until we leave for Mexico for the wedding! It sure feels strange not knowing what to expect, but if anyone knows us, we will just go with the flow and enjoy it. We will have pictures to put on the internet. Hey, everyone check out the Washington International Horse show home page. Just put those words in to search and click on pony equitation points. Meredith, as of June 8, is ranked 11 in the nation! That still does not guarantee that she will end up in the top 25, she still needs to do well at the Biltmore (Ashville, NC) in July. Everyone say a little prayer for her to do her best, because the best kids will be there! AND WE WANT TO GO TO WASHINGTON! I love you all and am so happy to hear all of the news!!!! Love, Carolyn

Thanks for the Anniversary congrats Uncle Melvin! 20 years is a loooong time, but we made it! Jacob is all settled in his new apartment which is about 1/4 mile from the stadium. The manager of the apartment complex called his room the "penthouse" (it's on the third floor with a view of the pool! 36 stairs up...I counted each time I walked them to haul his stuff up! Whew!) It's a really nice apartment (only 3 years old). I don't think he'll want to come home:-( Of course I cried when I left him and I've called him everyday since! I told him he'll just have to humor his mother for a while. I guess I'll get used to him being gone after a few weeks....he hopes so! He started working out with the team and they even having doing some kind of karate exercise, I guess to improve agility or something....who knows. We are literally getting drenched from tropical storm Allison. I think it started raining on tuesday and it hasn't stopped yet! Baton Rouge has gotten over 15 inches of rain! fortunately Jacob's truck is high so he can still get around. Mom's apartment is almost finished....hopefully by the end of next week or so she'll be in it. She'll be real comfortable, it really turned out nice. Well that's all for now. Hope to read some more updates from everybody! Love to everybody.....Becky

I wonder how many of us are out there. Just like Carolyn. Read this everyday hoping to get the news about what everyone else is doing. Well, maybe you started something, Carolyn. I hope so. OP and I LOVE our condo and retirement is wonderful. As Perry said they are coming this week and we are looking forward to that. June 19th Steven, Tim, Laura (Karen's) are coming for a week's visit. Pat, Martha, Danny and Daniel will be here July 4th. Can't think of anyplace more exciting than in the Nations Capitol on that date. Perry and Michell are expecting a baby boy August 10th and David and Lucia are expecting a baby boy August 21st. In Sept we are going to visit Richard in San Diego and to see the first Redskin game of the season. We will be joined by two of OP's high school buddies and their wives. Rickey and Barbara and Gerald and Pat Reaux. In Oct we hope to see Meridith, Carolyn, Robert, Roland and Faye when Meridith comes to competition. On Dec 30th we are going to see the Last game of the season. Redskins vs Saints. Then hopefully a trip to Lafayette. So we have a wonderful time to look forward to, God willing. (As my Mother used to say) I know what is happening with my other children, but how about THEM letting everyone else know. Love, Aunt Shirley

I have been reading the guestbook everyday, and like everyone else, not adding to it, so I thought that I would update everyone. Daniel's wedding is fast approaching (June 30) We will have a reception for them when they both are back in Lafayette for our family and friends. We will send invites at that time. we want everyone to meet Ana! Kimberly is going to Phoenix in the beginning of June for a training conference for her Teen Life program that she will be starting in Malaysia. Two bishops from Malaysia will be meeting her there. She raised the funds for both of them to come!!! Then she will go to Malaysia for a little over 2 months, after Daniel's Wedding. After that, I sure hope she stays home for a while! Meredith is doing great with school and her horses. She has a busy show schedule this summer and is ver excited about it! She has a few local shows and then 2 weeks at the Biltmore in July and then the Pony Finals in North Carolina in August! Robert and I are trying to work hard to keep everything going. Hi! Hope everyone is doing fine! We just got home from another horse show and Meredith did very well again. She won the Washington International Equitation division again! And won the American Horse Show Association Pony Medal again! So she is getting closer and closer to qualifying for the Washington International Horse show in DC in October! But she definitely has qualified for the AHSA Pony Medal show in July to be held in Ashville, North Carolina! She also won Champion in her pony schooling division against 42 other horses and ponies!!!! That was a real suprise for everyone! Daniel and Kim are both home and doing fine. I am happy to have my babies all home!!!!!!!! It is good hearing from everyone, but there are a lot of ya'll out there that are not letting us in on your family news! Miss everyone! Love, CArolyn

For those who are interested our new address as of Oct. 29 2000 is 6130 322nd Ave SE Fall City, WA 98024 Hm. phone 425-222-5586 (this phone has answering machine and fax) If you want our unlisted phone# and cell phones we'll give those out in a less public forum! Kent and I are doing great. Kent is doing a lot of traveling right now and I'm stuck in town for the next month 'cause I'm on call for jury duty. We have been taking dance lessons on friday nights and have learned the fox trot and swing. Future lessons will expand on those two dances by adding more moves. The next wedding we go to we'll be able to do more than sway back and forth. We also had a hoe down at church and learned (and mostly forgot) how to do the 2-step, 12-step and electic slide. That might have been the 10-step we learned as there was some confusion because the actual number of steps did'nt match the title of the dance. Spring has really greened things up here and the deer are in the yard on a daily basis. It's hard to stay in the house and work when it is so gorgeous outside. Happy Spring to everyone! Love Kelly

Hello out there! Things are real busy down here. Moms apartment is coming along, she is having a time buying all the things to put in. Now days there is too much to choose from. Kinda hard but she is managing well. Looks like she will be in for the end of May and we will send pictures. My house is getting an uplift, siding(NO MORE PAINTING) and looking good too. Daniel has returned from Belgium. He had a great time and planted many seeds for the Lord. He was detained buy customs because the the boys bought replicas of Napolians gun and the drug dogs attacked his carry one because he had a piece of beef jerky in it. The mad cow things has really shook up Europe and we don't want it over here. All in all he had a great time and is having a hard time with the time differences. Monique is doing fine also and is going to a retreat in Dallas as a speaker. Real excited about preaching to young kids about the Lord. Go Mo! She is just a few hours away from being a JUNIOR. She will be attending summer school, she received another scholarship for the summer sessions. Her others scholarships do not pay for summer school. That was a blessing. Danny is working real hard witht he farmers right now, busy season. He leaves around 5 in the morning and gets back around 11 at night. That will end soon. We are gearing up for Jacob's graduation and the pigs are going to sale soon too. Lots to sell, yes they need to go. Anyway, we are all feeling ok and glad to ohear Uncle Lionel is doing better and know that Aunt Gloria is still in our prayers. Make sure to not leave any valuables behind in moving Aunt Shirley and Uncle OP, you never know what might be of value. Maybe you will find something to go on the Antique Road Show. Ha! We found some things like that when we cleaned out my grandma's house. Good to hear about your family Carolyn. Proud mom I bet. Way to go Kyle and Justin. I really would like to see a game. Let me know when, I may be able to see one. OK have to run, have lots of paper work to do. Love to all!!:) TRUST IN THE LORD WITH ALL THINE HEART. PROVERBS 3:5.

Hi, everyone! Kimberly is finally home for a few months! She got back from Thailand on April 5 (after being there for 8 months!) and left for Mexico on April 9 for 2 weeks. She is healthy and loves her work! She will be home until after Daniel's wedding (June 30), then she will be going to Malaysia. I am so happy to have her home! Daniel is doing fine, just bought a car! Meredith is doing great.. She won the Washington International Equitation division and the American Horse show equitation medal and Was Champion on her horse gunner this past weekend. So, Uncle OP and Aunt Shirley, it is looking better and better that she might qualify to ride in Wash, DC in October. Uncle Lionel and Aunt Gloria, I have been praying for ya'll and hope both are doing better. It's been great fun to log on and check out what everyone is up to. I love my cousins, aunts and uncles! Love, Carolyn

I just got off the phone with Lionel and Gloria. He has been home from the hospital for a few days now. He is not recovering as fast as the last time from this hip replacement. He has much more pain. He has to get out of bed at least two times a day to walk, and it is very painful. Gloria is not feeling to good either. She is suffering some problems with her legs, numbness I think. She went to get her Cemo yesterday but the doctor decided not to give it because she was having such a bad reaction from the last one. So we need to keep them both in our prayers, asking for some relief for both of them.

Hi Everybody! From the sound of it all, our rain has gone south for the winter. We are in the midst of a drought and power shortage. Our new "earthquake resistant" house weathered the rockin and rollin just fine and dandy. I was outside and it was really strange to see the earth moving like wakes on water. We continue the quest for a finished house and I am most often sporting nice latex painted fingernails....and hair and clothes! At this moment Sat.march31 4:26pm Kent is tiling away at the guest bathroom. Speaking of which, we have an almost complete guest suite with its own TV room and bathroom which are aching for visitors. Seattle in anyones vacation plans? Last weekend Kent and I suprised Gloria and Andy by showing up at their door saturday night. We stayed for Andy's 70th B-day party on sunday and left with the other guests to catch our plane home. All the kids were there and it was a great party. We'll try to be more faithful about contributing to the chat, it's great to see how well everyone is doing. Love Kelly

Martha and Jenna made the Daily Advertiser today (with George Bush!) Also, there was an article where they interviewed Becky and a couple of other Americans who adopted children from other countries. The article was concerning tax credit for parents adopting a domestic or foreign child. It was really a very nice article. Kimberly will be coming home from Thailand one week from tomorrow!!!!!!!! It has been 7 months since she has been gone and I can't wait for her to be home!!!!!!!! Meredith's picture jumping her horse Gunner was published this week in the Chronicle of the Horse (An International Magazine) They highlighted the top riders in each state. I will make a copy and maybe Dad can scan it on his homepage. Daniel is working hard and looking forward to getting married in June. Robert and I are working hard and keeping up with Meredith. Hey everybody! Jacob got a call this morning at school from the Louisiana Football Magazine, which of course highlights LA football. This issue is a recruiting issue focusing on where all of the top recruits in the state are heading to college. Jacob's will "pose" for the cover with 14 or 15 other high school seniors who are also going on to play college ball. We are so proud of what he has accomplished in his 1.5 years at St.Martinville Senior High. he has been kind of struggling in French II (becausse his French I background was not that great, and today he made the highest grade in the class on the French II midterm, 103 out of 100 points! He will be inducted into the Beta Club at SMSH next Monday! Anyway, when the magazine comes out I'll scan a picture of the cover and post it to lilMoma's photo album. One more bit of good news.....Jewel is finally potty trained!!!! Praise the Lord! Luv ya'll, Becky

We will be selling the big house also and moving to the Condo within the next few months. Hi, Family - After 22 years in this house, I'm going to have to really empty my attic - and it contains more stuff than the rest of the house does. Charles and I are going to sell our house and buy a smaller house across town. The boys are both either buying houses or getting apartments. We've figured that our bills will be cut at least in half!!! We hope this will allow me to be able to really "retire" like some of my other family members have. We have so much family all across the USA that we could spend years traveling around to visit them all. And when we stay home, we spend most of our time relaxing, playing cards and dominos, and spoiling our grandchildren! Charles' daughter, Stacey, and her husband, Dennis, and son, Ian, just moved into their new house in Jacksonville, FL last week. Melanie will be marrying Eric Giroir in a few weeks. Change is a scary thing, but I've got a wonderful husband to help me get through it. If all goes well with the inspection of the new house, I'll send photos to show y'all. Love to all.

Mom and I went to move Monique again. she is now working for LA TECH as a resident assistant. She has a two bedroom suite and her own bathroom with a tub. It really is nice. We went to eat at an italian restaurant downtown Ruston with Monique, her best friend Celena and her boyfriend Tim(A+, great guy :). Monique and Tim wil be coming in this weekend for his birthday. She can only come in 2 times during the quarter because of her new job. Daniel had a blast at retreat. Getting closer and closer to God. Baby pigs are all over the place. Chickens too. Hi, everyone, we have been at a AAAA Horseshow in Gulfport, MS. for the past 3 weekends. We spent Mardi Gras week there, also. Meredith rode so well! There were 1500 horses and ponies at this show, from all over the country and Canada! This past weekend she won the Washington International Equitation Pony Classic! For the past three weeks, she has been placing 2nd and 4th. She is now in 10th place in the nation and is trying trying to qualify for the Washinton International Horse show in Washington, DC in October. They invite the top 25 riders in the nation. So, maybe, if she continues to ride well , UNCLE OP AND AUNT SHIRLEY, ya"ll might see her ride in the MCI Center in late october!!!!! If not, she is having fun trying. Kimberly is in Malasia right now. and is coming home on April 4th! But will go to Mexico for 2 weeks and then be home until Daniel's wedding in Mexico on June 30th! Then she has been asked to return to Malaysia in July for 3 months to start up a Life Teen Program there. Life Teen is a fantastic Catholic program that has really taken off in the US!!!! Daniel is doing fine and missing Ana. robert an I are fine and a little tired keeping up with the horse world. But, we would not do it any differently. Good to hear the great news, Aunt Gloria, I love you and have been praying for you. Uncle OP, great news. Hey everybody! Be looking in your newspapers for a photo of President bush holding our little Jenna! We were able to get up close (because of Martha and Moma both being in wheelchairs) to the front for the rally in Lafayette with Bush. I sure hope his tax plan passes--it will save me a lot of money next year! Anyway, after the speech Pres. Bush came down to shake a few hands and he held Jenna for photos and spoke to Martha. He asked hwo we spell Jenna's name because he has a daughter with the same name. Danny snapped a photo of Jenna and the Pres. but somebody walked right in front of him when he snapped so we missed the moment;-( I emailed the Pres. and asked if there was anyway I could get a copy from one of his photographers---wouldn't that be something if he actually responds! Check the newspapers and the net (I've been checking) and let me know if you see a cute little Chinese/American (she became a citizen on 2/27/01) girl with the Pres. luv ya'll, Becky

Yes Martha, we thank the Lord for his blessings on me. I even received communion at the hospital and two different priests visited me. So I know He had something to do with my results. Well, we will be looking for all you Lafayette folks who will be going to see my man "W" today at 5 PM. We will try to tape the Cable News stations to see if we get to see any of you. Tell him you have relatives in Virginia that are supporting him also... ha ha.

THANK YOU JESUS for listening to our prayers, that our family members are well and on the road to recovery. God is soooooo goooood! AMEN!! Well, you all can look for Pat, Martha, Danny, Becky, Dean, and their kids, little Eugene and Marie-Louise on the news tomorrow. We are all going to see Air Force 1 land in Lafayete and listen to President Bush. Mom and I wil be in our wheel chairs for a closer view. I was able to get tickets and there is standing room only so we will take our own seats to get a better view. Oh boy! We might get to see him up close. You know the camera won't e able to keep their eyes off of me and mom. LOL Maybe we need to hold Jewel and Jenna up. Is that how you do it Uncle OP? I recall you should know how to do that. Security is all over the grounds. The kids are excited about going. They get off of school. Daniel won't be able to go because he is going on a retreat for the weekend. I really enjoyed my visit in Slidell. It was nice to see all of you again. Uncle OP, Aunt Shirley, Uncle Lionel and Aunt Gloria : Proverbs 17:22 says A merry heart doeth good like a medicine. Enjoy Palms Springs and an unwinding retirement. Love to all, Martha Louise

Thanks for all your prayers, they worked. I am back and passed all the tests. I had had some "pressure on my chest" not "pains" and some shortness of breath. It apparently wasn't my heart. I took the blood emzine test and they were negative. I took several EKGs and they were normal. I got a sonagram of the heart and it was normal. I took the Thalium Stress test and it was normal. They couldn't find anythhing wrong. They also told me my cholesterol was only 183. I think it was just the after affects from a cold in my chest I have had for a several weeks. There might have been some affects from the retirement wind down too. So I am back to unwinding, carefully.

"...where two or three are gathered together for my sake, there am I in the midst of them." Our prayers are with you, Uncle O.P. You have provided our family with a place to continue to gather together, just as we always did at Grandma's house - to look through the "picture room", to catch up with all the news on the other family members, and to offer love and support to all of them. God bless you! Love.

It was good to here that OP is doing ok and it wasn't a heart attack. It can't be stress because he did retire (for the third time). Well for an update on Gloria. We talked to the doctor today and she said that the CATSCAN report that had said that there were more tumors in the liver was wrong and that there was no increase in the tumors. This was great news and correlates better with how Gloria feels which is pretty good. In additions the blood test for "Markers" showed a much lower count which is also positive. So we are feeling much better today than a week ago when we got the bad report on the CATSCAN. We plan to take a couple of days in Palm Springs with some friends and play some golf. Thanks for all your prayers, it looks like they are working. Love you all, Lionel

Dad's progress: Dad (uncle OP to most of you!) was sumbitted to the Hospital after experiancing chest pains. Dad seems to be good about going in when he needs to. Well I just talked to Mom. Dad is done with tests for today (he thinks so). Everything so far has come out negative. He is still awaiting his results from the ultrasound. So far they don't think it is a heart attack. He did have high blood pressure yesterday. He hopes to be released tonight and then go home and just sleep. Take care David BTW, a better link of that photo is at: http://www.davidditch.com/astro Look at the astrophotography. Hi! Glad to hear that Kent and Kelly are OK. We wre all worried about them. Aunt Gloria you are in our prayers. Just trust in the Lord! David and Lucia, talk about your little one looks just like David. He is just a sweetheart. Mom is still staying very busy. Overwhelming at times but she will get through it. We moved the camper yesterday so wwe can continue to work on the apartment. Mom got a Windstar, a Ford van. It is very nice, especially the feature that the van beaps when you back up telling you that something is in back of you. The car tells her OL BE CAREFUL PAT, DON'T HIT ANYTHING! SLOW DOWN! LOOK OUT OF THE SIDE MIRRORS! Ha! Ha! She really uses it too. The paper work is a bit much but I am sure she will be going back to work soon. How does it feel to be retired Uncle OP. Great!!!! Well, maybe we will travel in the summer to visit you all. Moms car will make it. Daniel and I have never been to Washington DC and would like to see the sights and spend some time with cousins . Well, have to run. Need to get some things done. Love t all.

Happy Birthday, David!! Sorry so late. Uncle OP, the photos in memory of dad are just great. Mom has not seen them yet but I think today will be the day. She is going to meet me here at becky's house before going to get a car. I printed the chat room for her and she just loved it too. The city of St. Martinville is going to name the RV Park in memory of dad. It passed at the meeting Monday night. He would be so proud. The city is also putting memorial plaques in all the buildings he worked on restoring. The editor of the newspaper also wrote a beautiful article about dad. I am sure mom will send you all a copy. Mom is going to get herself a computer so she can talk to her brothers. The kids will teach her how to use it. She said if Elaine and Grandma can so can she. She might a llittle slower with the fingers but she can do it. We finally got the grass all cut and the ants think they are going to take ouver but I have news for them. The 28 figs trees are starting to wake up and we have just given birth to 10 pigglets(6 girls and 4 boys). Danny is so proud. Mother and children are doing fine. Several more on the way too. We did very well at the pig show in Baton Rouge. Jordan took in all the money. Daniel won a class and placed 7th nad 4th, I think. He got some money too. Jared's pig ran like a race horse all over the place, Jared nealy had a stroke chasing it. Eugene and Marie-Louise's pigs got a thank you for coming ribbon and see you next year. All in all we had an alright time, even though it was the first itme in 10 years we didn't have Pop, Me-Me and Monique there with us. Well, all 45+ chickens are free in the yard and awaiting laying or moving on the colder grounds in my freezer. Jordan's pig went to pig heaven and Jared said he wants to get his next. He is still mad at it for running all over the place. Gotta go. I know I talk too much but sorry! TO ACCOMPLISH GREAT THINGS, WE MUST NOT ONLY ACT BUT ALSO DREAM, NOT ONLY PLAN BUT ALSO BELIEVE. I DREAM ABOUT SEEING MY DAD AND HEAVENLY FATHER ONE DAY, AND PLAN ON IT, BELIEVING THAT KEEPING JESUS IN MY HEART WILL GET ME THERE. Love, Martha Louise

Yep! that is right. 35 years ago Karen, Perry, Richard and I were living in Abbeville while OP was serving his tour in Vietnam. I spent the night before at Lil Mama's because I had an appt with Doug at 9:00am. After hearing I had some fluttering at intervals during the night, Jeannette took me to the appt. There Doug said Lil David or Suzanne was on the way. David was born at noon while Karen was playing with Barbie Dolls at Aunt Helen's. And Perry and Richard were playing with their GI Joes at Bobbie's and my Mothers. So you see it was a group effort. OP still thinks of David being born on the 22nd. He wasn't notified by the Redall see Dean and Jacob on TV during the SuperBowl. Jacob had a great big inflated helmet on and Dean had the Uncle Sam hat on. They sat around 20 seats up from the field right behind the goal. We have it taped and they will show us. We tried to see them but it went too fast. Uncle Lionel, mom wants to know how you and Aunt Gloria are doing. She wants to know how her brothers are and sister-in-laws too. Uncle Roland are you out there? Well, trying to get to bed. We have a busy week ahead of us. Pig Shows start again on Wednesday and need to sleep. Oh, almost forgot. Good news for my son Daniel, he will be going to Belgium on April 15-21. He will be part of a ministry: assisting in prayer walks on college campuses, assist in weekly services(music and testimonies), possibly host an international youth service and whatever else the Lord wants him to do. I am so grateful to the Lord for using my children as vessels to do his work. I know this will be an experince he will never forget and strengthen his love for Jesus Christ. Please keep both of my children in your prayers along with Mom and Dad. Love to all of you....Martha Louise

Hi everybody! This is great Uncle O.P.! I just wanted to give all of you who will be watching the "Big Game" on Sunday to have someone in the crowd to look for. Dean surprised Jacob with a trip to the superbowl! They are staying at the Hilton in Tampa--they have a package deal. They called me and said that everyone is looking at them and one lady asked to take a picture with them! Dean said they are having fun with it and obliged the lady not even telling them who they are! She told him, "I knew it was you!" WHO??? I asked Dean? "I don't know!", he said but we took a picture with her! Jacob even signed an autograph book for a little boy who asked him who he played football for. Jacob told him he will be playing for LSU in the fall and the little boy was so excited to get Jacob's autograph! I hope the airplane has extra large head space for their return flight! Anyway, Jacob bought a big red, white, and blue Uncle Sam hat and is supposed to wear it to the game so we can try to spot him in the crowd. they are in the endzone as of right now, but Dean is trying to get better seats tomorrow. They are going to a big pregame party with some football stars (real ones!) and Jacob hopes to get some autographs of his own. as Tigger says, ttfn (tata for now!) Becky

Hi yall! Well, just got back from spending the night with dad at the hospital. He slept through the night and we thought that was good but we are having trouble waking him up now. Wants to sleep all the time. His tongue in very thick and heavy and is not eating very well if anything. He sat up today for two hours in a chair and Becky is fixing to give him a hair cut. Getting long and looking on the hippy side. He has always been proud of having lots of hair for his age. I wish I could say the same for myself. I have grandma and mom to thank for that. Becky is the only one to seem to get him to eat. Mom is with him now and could use your prayers for coping with whatever God sends our way. She is very sad now. I am talking to mom now and she is telling me that dad ate for his therapist. Praise God!!!! More than usual and now he is sleeping again. Mom says she is not calling because she put me charge of telling everyone about dad in the chat room. but if you would like to call her you can call at 337-374-4321. That is directly to his room. There are many therapist who go in and work with him, speech, occupational, physical and something else but I forgot. I am very tired and need to sleep. Jewel and I have a date to watch Barney and hit the sack. Good to hear from my cousins and want to see pictures. May God bless all of you and keep you safe. Love, Martha Lousie

Sorry I haven't written sooner but I have been with dad at the hospital. HE IS OUT OF ICU !!!! He is in a regular room, #304---337-365-7311. He is not hooked up to anything, just has a little cough and very disorientated. He doesn't want to eat much and has loss quite a few pounds. He is still haveing some memory difficulties but can talk on the phone answering questions correctly. Initating conversation is very difficult, talks of the past and whatever. He is scheduled for another brain scan today around 2 and evalutaion for rehab also. I slept with him the first night out of ICU and he slept for 6 hours, very good. I keep mom informed of the chat room information and she is anxious to se it working. Becky's youngest daughter, Jenna, reminds us all of Aunt Cile. She walks like her, smiles like her and does things Aunt Cile used to do. Jenna's name is Jenna Grace but we sometimes find ourselves calling her Jenna "Lu" short for Lucile. Mom can't get our it. I will send a picture to OP. Look in the album. Glad to here from Kent and Kelli. Good pictures on the album. Aunt Jeanette and Uncle Melvin lookin good. Go Jane! Aunt Shirley and Unlce OP still lookin young. Can I print those pictures? Mom would like to see them. Well, have to run and check on Daniel. He is sick at home and I am at Becky's house next door. I will keep you all up to date after the scan and Carl's next visit. You are all in our prayers. Love, Martha Louise

Kent, No, there is no way for this software to let you clip images into it directly. But if you email the digital images to me (op@opditch.com) I will create a "Chat Room Photo Album" and link it from the top of the chat room page. Lets see how that works for a while. Maybe I will come across some fancier software to do it automatically later.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY CYNTHIA !!!! Go girl !!! Hey Butch, glad to see you on the computer. Kent and Kelly where are you guys? Hi Nannette! Daniel has been hunting in the ponds next door and has been bringing in the ducks. He cleans them not me. The weather is cold and very wet, who's got the snow? Becky is visiting with dad now and I haven't heard the news for today yet. He did have a strawberry shake last night and mom took a little time to get her hair done. She needed to do that for herself. Dad is standing up and therapy is working him out pretty hard. He slept through visiting time last night mom said. He is coming around in God's time. And that is OK with us. Well, let you all know more later. Love all! Martha Louise

Hey guys and gals, thanks for all your prayers. Dad ate today for the first time, I fed him some grits, milk and apple juice and all went well. He was told he could have what ever he eanted to eat. blended of course. He wanted Blue Belle Vanilla Ice Cream. He said he was to old for this, the nurse asked him how old he was and he said 70 and the nurse said 70 what and he said 78 or 79 and who cares after 50 it does not matter.Carl said the tube in the neck would be out soon as soon as he was eating more. Good news. What a miracle!! He is still really tired and wants to sleep alot. He does talk about things from long ago and things we don't know about. We are praying for the confusion to go away. He is really getting stronger every day. Uncle OP thank you for setting this up for us. I will need help on how to video conference. If Elaine and Grandma could do it so can I. We have a QuickCam for Mac's and ivisit software. We can send still photos but have not figured out the video stuff. Becky and Monique have one and we use it all the time. Monique is doing great at LA TECH University, made the dean's list with a 3.58 and is majoring in Animal Science with plans to do missionary work fighting hunger. Daniel is doing a fine job as a freshman in HS at Assembly Christian making Honor Roll. Daniel has won Cahmpion with his Hampshire Breeding gild and Res. Cahmp. with his market Yorkshire gilt. Yes we as Eugene does live on a Farm, with lots of animals, 3 horses, 2 cats, 55 broiler chickens and over 30 Exhibition birds(egg laying birds) and 1 Boar, lots of momma sows and lots and lots of market pigs and occasionally dogs, rabbits, snakes and opposums from around the country side. Maybe sounds more like adventure land than home and sometimes it is. Most of the Time!!!!Add a few dirty kids and dirty husband and boy do we have a time in with the laundry. that's life and it is good. Retirement is all it is cracked up to be and more. I love staying home with no time clock. I am working with Dean and Becky and that is great. I love being with Becky and her girls. My hair has stoped falling out. for those of you who don't know I, taught for 20 years and now am FREE........When dad comes home it will be great again. Well, this is long enough for now. Some people say just hello(LOL) and I will write less next time. Promise!! Love to all of you and may God bless you and your families as he has done for me. Martha Louise

Ok, all you experienced netlings (e.g. Richard), this is NOT a real "Live Chat" room. I just called it a "Chat Room" to get you all to leave messages. This is the best I can do for now, until I am retired again. So you need to leave more than "hello", no one will immediately answer you, because it is not "live". It is more like a "message board" or "guestbook". So you can still use it, because it looks like more and more family members are checking in frequently.

Hey Guys this is really great! Cecilia and I have been really busy with the kids,Dad in the hospital, Coaching Eugene's soccer team,President of the PTO at Catholich High (Eugene IV and Marie-Louise's school), helping with the high school soccer team at Catholic High (we have worked for three years getting the teams off of the ground) and did I mention we are both still gainfully employeed(LOL) almost forgot about the job. After ten years in the house we are finising the upstairs for the kids. They will really have a nice place up there when we are finished. They will have rooms that are about 500 square feet, private baths in both rooms, 11' ceilings, networked computers, TV's, VCR's and the girls room will be fully equiped with there very own washer and dryer. Eugene decided he wanted something in his room that none of his friends have so we are installing a full size basketball goal for him. Anyone for a game of "PIG". Oh by the way we have given Cecilia a new name around here since she is a city girl living in the country we now call her "Lisa Douglas". The farm is growing 7 cats, 4 rabbits, 4 hogs, a dog and enough fish to open a pet store. Cecilia is now teaching kindergarden an adjusting to the change in grade levels. This year is really kicking her tail but next year will be better once she goes thru it once. I am still working at Home Depot and loving my job. If you notice what time this is being written you can decide for yourself when we have time to ourselves. Oh well! I wouldn't change it I could, We are so very proud of our children in everything they do, they have all been honor roll students and we are so blessed that they do well in school. Hugs and Kisses to all of you and please keep us in your prayers because they are truley working. If any of you want to e-mail mom a note you can send it to me and i will print it and deliver it to her at the hospital. She is pretty much staying with dad around the clock except to sleep since Carl told her she couldn't sleep in ICU waiting.

Update on Leonard: Doing better every day, can talk now through a new treak, first words, "Get me out of here!!!", followed by I am ok and don't hurt and I love you and tears. Mom feels much better now. Looking at moving to a regular room soon. Carl feels good that he will be up and walking and talking and eating after much therapy. He will go to a sniff unit after the regular room and then to rehab. Dad is real glad to see us when we go but falls asleep easily, Carl says he is very exhausted. He ate some pudding and drank some red water and all went down the right tube and in the stomach. GOOD!!!! Speech therapist are working with him and he got an A plus. Things are going really well. He looks just like dad now maybe even better than before. All other body parts are working fine. Kicks all the time. His right hand needs a brace and maybe weaker because of the stroke. No problem. He stood up and held his own weight, twice a day and does like it because he knows he has to in order to get out. He tells mom he can not see at times but I think he is bored or maybe wants her to go sit down and not talk. Oh well, that is normal. Carl says that is ok. He sees because I blew him a kiss without making the sound and he blew one back and winked. Stinker!!!! Making mom worry. Well, have to get back to work....Ha Ha!!(retired)....Thanks for all of your prayers......We do give God all the glory and a honor and praise. THANK YOU JESUS!!!!!

Well, I went for my third steroid shot yesterday for my xiphoid problem. It was better than the last time in November. I feel pretty good, so far. It seems to have worked good like it did in August. Well, I have to go to work this morning, but I only have one and a half months left to work part time for the new owner of our company. Then I will be retired again..... yeah!. I talked to Pat the other night and Leonard was still improving a little bit, but still in intensive care. He was responding to them a little more but still has the trach tube in his throat and not talking yet. Love y'all

This chat room is a wonderful idea! Thanks, Uncle O.P. We had a very busy Christmas. Charles' daughter, husband, grandson, ex-wife, ex-mother-in-law, and ex-father-in-law all came to stay with us for Christmas week - along with all the other regulars that live here and drop by! We looked like a Holiday Inn!! It was great fun and felt good to have a big family together for the holidays. We have plenty of room in this big house, and hope to have my cousins, aunts and uncles come and stay and visit us often. I'm semi-retired (I've been off since November and will go back in February). My boss is very understanding so far - he lets me make my own schedule. Charles and I just got back from a week and a half trip in our van - we started off in Memphis for Elvis' birthday celebration, then across Tennessee to the Jack Daniels Distillery in Lynchburg, then north of Chattanooga to the Lost Sea Cave in Sweetwater (where we almost literally needed oxygen on the walk back up the cave), then down to Hogansville, Georgia to visit Charles' sister and her family. Now we're back home to reality and I'm taking down the last of the Christmas decorations. Today is the birthday of both of my grandchildren - Bo (10) and Chelsea (5). Boy, time sure flies. I can't wait to find out through this chat room what's going on with all of my family out there. Congratulations, David & Lucia! Hi, Nanette! I miss you all! Our thoughts and prayers are with Aunt Gloria and Uncle Leonard. Love, Cynthia & Charles
