Hi, Family: Charles did great for his operation and we're home already. We got to the hospital at 6:00 a.m. but had to wait all day until 6:30 p.m. for them to operate (and he had to fast since midnight). They put two new stents with radiation and radiated the old one, and he had to spend the night in ICU because they had some trouble stopping the bleeding when removing the angiogram catheter. This morning at 11:00 they let him go home! Thank you Lord Jesus! And thank you all for your thoughts and prayers! Love to all.

Hi Family: Just a quick note to ask for prayers for Charles this coming Tuesday. He'll be having an angiogram and two or three stents put in the arteries around his heart - with radiation which is supposed to keep them open longer. His only other choice would be open-heart surgery (triple by-pass). Since he still has more weight to lose and his blood pressure is still high, he opted to have the stents put in for now, and after losing more weight he might have the open-heart surgery in about a year if necessary. Please keep him in your prayers. Love to all.

Hi Family: UPDATE!!!! Charles has lost 47 pounds and I've lost 20 pounds! We're six weeks into our new way of eating and we're both feeling great - and encouraged. We went to the show last night to see "Bruce Almighty". It was a really great movie - funny, romantic, had a moral to it. Melanie has just started the Atkins Diet too, and I packed my purse with: cheddar cheese, pepperoni sticks, pork rinds, and three kinds of sugar-free candy - all three of us got diet Cokes. It was so funny to be in a show without eating popcorn, but we sure had enough variety to keep us all happy. Bo is leaving tomorrow to go to Boy Scout Camp for a week in Mississippi, and Chelsea just finished a week at Cooking School. Charles and I are thinking about taking the grandchildren to Universal for a week in August - by that time we should have lost enough weight to be able to survive that kind of vacation! Love to all.

Hello to everyone. I know it has been a long time since I last wrote. I have been very busy. Boy is it hot in the ville. No air conditioning has shed a little light my way. I know for sure that I could have NEVER lived in the days with when there were no air conditioning. Thank God that mom is in the back yard and her air is working. Daniel just came back from Pro Football Kicking Camp at Tulane in N.O..He had a real hot workout. For you football guys, Dan was tutored by Ray Guy #8, the best kicker to have played pro ball. Daniel is a senior this year. He has a full summer ahead of him. He will be going to 4H Short Course at LSU in Tractor Driving. He will be there for a week and then we are off to Disney for a week. the day we come back Dan is off to Marsh Maneuvers. This is a 4H program where he will live in Grand Isle for a week, fishing, boating, and some environmental preservation stuff. Monique went when she was a senior and she loved it. I know Daniel will too. Monique is still home for awhile. She has one more semester left at ULL and will graduate on December 16 or 17. Then she leaves for Oaxaca, Mexico to live for 8 months. Please pray for her as she serves Christ. Mom has a slight cold again and trying to get a handle on it before it gets worse. Danny is still pigging out with his pigs. And my orchid is looking great. I may get figs this year. the blackberries were very dry and we only picked a few to eat. My grapefruit and orange trees have survived the drout and the recent rain has helped them to keep the fruit. I am in the process of landscaping my front yard after living here for 20 years. It is going to look very nice. Well, I have to run. I have clothes to wash and fold. Keeping you all in my prayers. Love, Martha Louise

I talked to Rickey last night and he is now home from the hospital. They are treating his ulsers with strong antacids. Shirley & I are in New York. Shirley & I will be on the Fox News show Day Side today at Noon CDT. I will be in the windows on Fox & Friends this morning and tomorrow with my Bush2004 signs. I have another lady helper that will be there too. She is a Bush2004 volunteer from NY. Shirley didn't want to be in the Windows this time. I might try to get on the NBC Today show crowd or CNN also, so some of you Dems from LA can see me too.

Hi, Family: It's finally happened - our house on Independence is now occupied by someone else - Charles' niece, Julie, her husband, Joe, and their son, Dillon, have started moving in tonight! We'll go to act of sale in a few weeks! Even though we haven't lived there for eight months, it was still hard to let go. I went last night by myself to sweep, mop and dust for the last time. Hopefully, this will allow me to be able to "retire" again in the fall. Our new house still has a few unfinished projects, but our 60'x16' screened porch across the front of our house is finally screened in - and Charles and I enjoy it so much! UPDATE: Charles has lost 35 pounds & I've lost 12 pounds! We've both got more to lose, but we know we can do it! Love to all.

Hi, Family: Charles and I just got back from Easter at Charles' sister's in Georgia. We left there on Monday and took a short trip to Chattanooga, TN and then down through Alabama (taking all the beautiful mountainous backroads). We almost got lost going through a beautiful mountain-top subdivision, which all of a sudden led us straight onto a little dirt road going down the mountain into the woods! We backed up real fast!! Just got home this afternoon and plan to finish screening the patio by the weekend - we're planning a big party here for Mother's Day. Charles is still having bad back problems and is finally approved for an MRI next week. We both start on the Adkins Diet tomorrow. I'll keep y'all posted on our progress. Love to all.

Hope everyone had a nice Easter yesterday! We boiled crawfish at Carl and Lynn's house on Friday night. He boiled 225 pounds! They were great. We stayed home on Sunday. Daniel, Ana and Alex came over; Kimberly and Meredith were here and a friend of Robert and I joined us. We barbequed and had a really nice peaceful day. We all went to church at Cathedral..it was so beautiful..the high mass at 11:00 is just so special. The chorus, orchestra and organ were are just so moving! Alex, who is now 6 months, was so good, he sat on my lap duting the mass and jsut watched everything and slept a little. He is just the custest and best baby I have ever seen (of course!) We are really enjoying being Grandparents. We keep Alex at least one night on the weekends to give Daniel and Ana some time alone. Meredtih is finishing up her Freshman year at St. Thomas More High School. She still is enjoying her riding and has started working out at a health club in town. Kimberly is still working as the director of the Promise Land Apts. (a temporary housing facility for women and children owned by the Church) It is trying at times, but she loves the work. Glad to hear that Paul is back home! We are proud of you, Paul! I hope to see more postings on Grandma's homepage. It seems a little slow! I miss everyone and hope that you all write a little something every now and then. Love, Carolyn

God bless you, Paul, and all of the men and women serving with you. Thank you for your sacrifices to preserve the peace and freedom that we all enjoy in these great United States. IF SOMEONE WILL SEND ME A PICTURE OF pAUL, WE CAN POST IT ON THE PRAYER WALL AT OUR CHURCH (sorry for the caps!).(We go to Sacred Heart of Jesus in New Iberia) Eugene IV recently turned 15 (he shares a birthday with President Reagan). He bough a muscle car--a '73 Duster--that he's been working on--changed the brakes, shocks, alternator, all the fluids and filters. He'll work on the exhaust system next, but he started a business to earn some money to pay for it all! It's called "Bayou-gene Woodworks"--he specalizes in Adirondack chairs, "sofas" (double-wide chairs), ottomans, and side tables. He'll have a demonstration booth at the Cajun Heritage Pavillion at the Cajun Fun Fest in May. He's already looking at colleges--I've got my fingers crossed for Notre Dame! Marie-Louise is 12 (birthday in May), is playing soccer, and making us very proud with her good grades. She'll be taking a cruise to the Bahamas this summer wih a friend. Annemarie is 11, also making great grades (honor roll for the three oldest kids). She's still growing her hair for Locks for Love. Ian will be 8 on Sunday. He, too, makes good grades but is struggling a bit in Spelling. He will be making his Fist Holy Communion at the end of April. Eugene III has been busy around the house--changed exterior shutters, added lattice around the house (our house is a wood-frame, 4 feet off the ground). This summer, we're planning to tackle a major job downstairs--installing and staining oak floors--doing it ourselves (we currently have vinyl and carpet). We did it upstairs, but there wasn't any furniture up there yet.I've got to work up my courage for that job-my house will be in a shambles for weeks!! Gotta run--much love and prayers to all!

I thought that everyone would like to read this. I read it one of my prayer books. Thank you Lord, for the men and women of our armed forces. Protect them as they protect us. Defend them as they defend us. Encourage and strengthen their spirit, soul and body in the execution of their duties and responsibilities. May they be mentally and physically strong when required to face the challenges of combat. Under gird them with your spirit and might when they are called upon to endure the hardships of battle. I pray that nothing would take them by surprise but that they would be aware of all potential aggression. Enable them to curtail hostile actions before they start. Reveal to military leadders the strategies and plots that enimies would wage. Give leaders wisdom and insight in all decisions. May response to any aggression by enimies of this nation be swift, accurate and effective. Father, give our military favor with the governmental agencies of this country. I pray that our Congress would appropriate sufficient funds to keep our nation's military preeminent in the world. Thank you Lord, for providing America with the best trained, equipped and lead military force in the world today. Fill them with Your saving grace and the gospel of peace that they may be shining witnesses of Your love. Paul, I pray for peace that passes understanding that it may sustain you and your family in this time of seperation. I pray for comfort and faith and that you will soon return home in wholeness and safety. We are all very proud of you. Hang in there! Love, Martha Louise

Hi, Family! Uncle O.P., that's truly a great tribute to you - I'm so proud of you - GO WO4MAN!! Carolyn, you sound really great, and so does your family. I know just what you mean about how wonderful grandchildren are. Charles and I spoil ours something awful, and we love every minute of it. They grow up so quick though, so soak in every minute with them that you can. Bo and Chelsea are hoping to be able to volunteer at the Slidell Little Theatre this summer - helping with building and setting up set decorations for the plays. Chelsea is having aspirations of being on television commercials!! Have to go for now - Charles needs my help setting up camp in the den in front of the tv so he can watch the war as it unfolds. God bless and protect us. Love to all.

Hi, everyone, I hope that this note finds everyone somewhat at peace in their lives. I know we have all had to go through periods of mourning and adjustments that we preferrable would have chosen not to experience....But we are a strong family and are able to adjust to change (sooner or later!) And with change comes new life and new experiences. I guess I have survived turmoil in my life by living by Grandma's famous rule of "putting one foot in front of the other and just moving forward -- never looking back with regrets"; She helped my so much with her wisdom, when I lost moma. She always understood the heavy weight of loosing someone so close to you. Anyway, we are all doing fine. Robert and I are both busy working; (thank God!) Kimberly still loves her work...never a day without a hilarious story (she is a true light in my life!) Daniel, Ana and the baby are doing great! Ana is taking Englsih lessons, provided by the Church; Alex is weighing in at a grand total of 21 pounds at 5 1/2 months! He is just the cutest baby in the world! We usually keep him over night on weekends--he is so much fun and such a good baby. Meredith is going to be 15 next month!!!! She still rides horses, but she does not own her own at this time. We sold her horse and large pony, because she needed to move up to jumping fences! (I can't believe I can say that and not cringe, but I can!) To her, the higher, the better, she is very competitive! She is still helping her trainer train the "green" or untrained horses at the barn. She loves the challenge and is learning so much! She is now taller than I am and looks down at me (I am not too fond of that!) But she is turing into a beautiful young lady and we are proud of her (when her hormones are in check!!!!!) PLEASE NOTE, UNCLE OP, I HAVE A NEW E-MAIL ADDRESS: caroditch@hotmail.com I WOULD LOVE TO HEAR FROM YA'LL! MY LOVE TO EVERYONE OUT THERE! CAROLYN

Hi, Family: Yes, our prayers are with our President and our Troops and their families. And don't forget that Grandma not only left us the legacy of her Christmas Balls, but also the legacy of her Prayers, Novenas and Rosaries! And they are something that we can use and remember her by - all year long! We can also pray for the miracle of Peace. Charles' nephew, Scott, is in the Army Airborne Elite, and my next door neighbor's son, Trey, is in the Army National Guard Reserve. Both are in Kuwait already. Our prayers are also for the safety of all people here in the USA. Love to all.

Uncle Lionel and family, I was so sorry to hear of Aunt Gloria's death. I was so hoping to send her flowers to lift her spirits while she was homebound. She and all of you were always in my prayers. I pray for our Lord Jesus Christ to send you peace and comfort in remembering Aunt Gloria as a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother. I will remember Aunt Gloria as always having a smile on her face. Every time I saw her she made me want to smile too. Even though she wanted to eat a pickle and banana peanut butter sandwiches. She fixed one for me one time and I thought she was nuts. She ate it but I couldn't even take one bite. It is very hard to let go but calling on Jesus will help you get over the sadness. Uncle Lionel when you're ready for a trip down south, we have a room for you. Wishing we could be there but you all are a litlle too far. Love and prayers, Martha Louise

Gloria died peacefully tonite at 9:09PM in bed at home with her family arround her. Lynn, Todd and Dane are coming back for the funeral and Kent and Kelly are staying over until after the funeral. I think her sister June and brother Chuck will be here for the funeral. We are hoping for Friday for the funeral. I beleive that it was God's blessing that she die quickly and in very little pain. I know she was ready. It is still very hard to loose someone you love so much. Will send you more info when things settle down. Lionel

Hello everyone! Not too much going on out there or maybe too much going on and not enough time to write. that's the case with me. Sorry! Karen, when are you guys coming down to visit. Who is coming? Cynthia, you have got some fun going on over there. We've been doing the paint ball stuff over here too. The kids have a real good time with that. Daniel has been practicing kicking footballs and getting in shape. Mom is finished with the Mardi Gras stuff and is trying to get her house back to normal. They all had a good time and mom was real pleased with the costumes. The weather is real bad today and the schools are shutting down due to the rain. Danny just brought me lunch so I will talk later. Love to all. Martha Louise

Hi, Family: Let's see what's been going on over here --- We're all into the "paintball craze" right now. Bo started it with his birthday present he got last month, then Eric, Melanie, Michael, Charles, me, John Paul, and quite a few friends, nieces and nephews. We had a big get-together at our place (since we have over 2 acres and a lot of trees to hide behind) last weekend. Right in the middle of a battle Charles yelled out, "Hold up! Hold up! Stop! My gun is jammed!" and was waving his arms all around. Everyone had a great time kidding him about how he would look and sound if it was a real war! Charles also had a problem finding a tree big enough to hide all of him - Michael was aiming at his rear so he leaned his stomach forward, then Wayne started aiming at his stomach and he stuck his rear out - Michael splattered him with paint on his behind!!! Bo won a trophy for second place in his 6th grade class with his social studies project "Tabasco and the Nutria Myth." He's always loved Tabasco Sauce, so he did some research on the internet and found out about how Mr. McIlhenny was thought to have been responsible for starting the nutria outbreak many years ago. For his display in front of his tri-fold, he made a 2' nutria standing on his hind legs in the marsh and holding a bottle of Tabasco Sauce. It really looked great! He'll get to enter it at State Fair in Hammond in March. Got to go for now - Stacey and Dennis are coming in tomorrow night for a visit - got to clean house! Love to all.

Hell and Happy Belated Birthdays to all! things were kind of busy around my house but things are getting back to normal. Mom is busy with costumes for Ian and MarieLouise. The weather is warming up today but with that comes the dumb rain. I do not like the rain. Go Tampa! My team won. Yeah!!! Daniel got his report card and had straight A's. We are sooo proud of him. he and his dad are giving the Resweber Pigs hair cuts right now. The pig show will be in Lafayette on thursday and friday. Dan won on the Parish level: Champion Showman - Sr. Divison and won the overall Champion Swine Showman. This was an award showing his ability to manage his pig and knowledge. His pigs won a 1st, 3rd and 5th. I think anyway. District is this week and the state show will be in Baton Rouge again the following week. Justin you can come and see us at the show barn. Look for the St. Martin Parish group and you will probable see us. We are usually around the show ring, I'll be zooming around in my power chair. Monique did return from Saltillo, Mexico. Her trip was a hard one but I know it was what God wanted her to do. she is back in the dorms and started classes. She scheduled late classses so she could get some sleep in the morning. She will be going back to Oaxaca, Mexico during the summer to work with homeless children and go to Language school. Keep her in your prayers. then she will return to the states for one more semester at ULL and graduate in December with a BS in Child and Family Studies. She hopes to go back to Mexico after graduation for 8 months and return to live in Springfield, Missouri to attend Graduate school at Assembly of God Theological Seminary. These are great plans and hope and pray that God will continue to use her for His will. Aunt Gloria you are in my prayers. Uncle Lionel, you and your family are too. Call on Jesus and He will comfort you. I am fixing to go wash clothes as usual and take a ride with Monique to her dorm. Well, I have to run for now. Love to all and remember that Jesus love you. : ) Martha Louise

Hello! Me again. Mom is home and is getting better. The cough is not as bad but she is to stay inside and regain her strength. The weather is very bad and there are lots of people sick down here. Mom is staying real busy at home with helping Eugene and Ce with costumes for the kids. She has lots of medicine to take and will get better with time and prayers. Daniel is geting ready for the pig shows again and Saturday the temp. will be 28 and that is when he shows. Needless to say we will be very cold. Monique has returned from Saltillo, Mexico and has had lots of time to catch up on sleep. We watched the video of her trip and it is really sad and makes one appreciate their mother. She will move back to the dorms on the weekend and classes will begin next week. I know she is looking forward to getting started again. I finially got Christmas stuff put away and working on cleaning another closet. Well, I pray that all is going well for everyone and hope to see more of you writing in the family chat room. Hi, Family: Today is Bo and Chelsea's birthdays. Bo is 12! Chelsea is 7! Charles and I went over to their house tonight for tacos and a Birthday King Cake from Randazzo's. This weekend, we'll celebrate Bo's birthday on Saturday at a paintball party (not me of course, but Charles will play). On Sunday, Chelsea will have a Chucky Cheese birthday party (they just opened last week in Slidell). I pray for them, and all my family - that they will have happiness, health, love, peace, and a close relationship with the Lord, which will help get them through the tough times. Love to all.

Hello everyone. Well good to hear from Nancy. Praying for Jackie to get better. I just came back from bringing Mom to Daurterive Hospital (337-365-7311) in New Iberia. Carl had her admitted because she couldn't breath and was getting faint. I was afraid she would pass out and fall and break something like a hip or crack her head. She really has bad congestion and has been fighting it for over two weeks. She is in room 284 and they will be running lots of test and giving her breathing treatments. She of course did not want to go but really had no choice. Things have been realy busy over here and she wanted everyone to know that she will be OK and should be out by the weekend. She is taking medication through an iv. I will keep you all up to date on her progress. Love to all Martha Louise

Happy New Year to everyone!!! Also happy birthday to all. Well the guys all have been hunting and having a great time, with Butch getting his biggest rack of his life ( a Nine point),he also got two does, Kyle a 4 point and Justin a doe... So we have the freezer packed. We had a great Christmas day, and in the afternoon we went to Cyndy and Charles new place, it is really nice and they have been really busy. We all had lots to eat and time to be with everyone. Yes Cyndy and I just sat and watched the alum. tree turn and go over all the balls...We sure do all have Grandma in our hearts!!!.. My Dad was always so excited about getting our tree, it had to be a blue spruce and live, he would put miracle grow in it and the tree would sprout. Can you believe that, well when I first met Butch and went to his house on Christmas and saw that alum. tree with the spinning color wheel, I almost died...I thought what am I getting into...now I know..A very large and loving family!! Our pictures are coming of our tree soon. I have been busy repainting Kyle's room on New Years eve and day because Mom will be coming to stay awhile to recover form surgury. She had knee replacement on Jan 2..At first all went well, then she had build up to much morphine in her system..Didn't know where she was or who anyone was...it was scarry..then came out of that and the knee started bleeding. Well now all is better, she was moved to rehab on Mon evening and now they are putting her through the paces..I am guessing she will be there about a week. So I can visit only in the evening. it is giving me a chance to rest and to catch up at home. The Christmas tree is coming down today. So we have had a busy start to the new year..Kyle has started baseball and his legs are about to fall off...Justin is enjoying his break and will be going back to LSU on the 20th. Wishing everyone special Blessings for 2003!

Happy New Year every one. Hope every one had a blessed and wonderful holidays. It was so exciting to watch Jonathan and Christopher open presents. We celebrated Christmas the 24th with my mother. Latin American countries celebrate Christmas the 24th. Go to mass, have a nice family dinner and presents are opened at midnight. This is the time we believe baby Jesus is born. Well, we did not open present at midnight too late for us so we did it after dinner :) The 25th, we all gathered at Paw Paw and Mom-Mom's condo(Uncle O.P. and Aunt Shirley for most of you). Richard flew in from San Diego. It was great having every one together. Happy belated B-day to Nancy, Annmarie and Melanie. Happy anniversary to Martha and Danny; Eugene and Cecilia. David and I will be celabrating our 12th wedding anniversary on the 12th of this month. Time surely goes by quickly. Happy B-day to Timmy(Karen's second child). His b-day is tomorrow. Wishing a speedy recovery for Aunt Pat. love to all David and Lucia Oh, Xmas pictures up on the general family section of : http://www.davidditch.com

Hello everyone! Happy New Year! I love seeing the Christmas Trees with Grandma's balls on them. I know I have a picture of Grandma standing in front of her tree and will send it to Uncle OP. I have to put my hands on it first. Pretty sure I know where it is, in a big draw with all sorts of pictures. Yes, mom is pretty sick. We saw Carl today and her gave her a shot, ran an EKG and chest xrays. He gave her medication and said I was to call him on Wednesday to let him know if there was improvement. She is caughing a whole bunch and real weak. Hello to jello and soup! Yuk! But that is all she is wanting to eat. I will keep you all informed on her progress. It is rough on her not being able to get around and out. I think Grandma had maybe over 4000 balls. I can remember the dresses when I look at the balls. That was a good thing for her to pass down to all of us. I can't make the balls but have done some crocheting and will continue to do so as long as my hands allow and my eyes hold up. Monique is in Satillo, Mexico working in an orphanage. They had 20 new orphans the day she arrived. She was heading four other ULL students on this trip and we are so proud of her. This was her first missions trip as a coordintor. The orphanage asked that they teach lessons and of course she was prepared. She had much support from our church and family and friends. She drove nine hours to the boarder, slept and the facilitators drove them accross to Satillo. The children are babies to 11 years old. We are waiting to hear from her by email. Yes Cindy they grow up real fast. Daniel is getting ready for next years games, working out those legs and coming home sore. Danny and Daniel have been hunting ducks in Kaplan and have been doing real well. Dan is a good shot, he makes up for what Danny misses. I'll have to send picutures. Gus and Gabby aren't ready to fethc the ducks so Danny has been nominated to do so. He is used to walking the rice fields and mud up to his waist. Monique gave me a great present for Christmas this year. Everyone knows of the junk room in your own home. Well, Mo helped me to get rid of mine. It is no longer a junk room and is now a nice computer, office, game room. Mo says if you haven't touched it in a year, say Good-bye to it. And so we did. I think she could help me in another closet that way too. It is getting late and I can hear Danny and Jewel snoring in the other room. I was hoping to stay on long enough to hear something from Mo but I will have to check later. Aunt Gloria and Uncle Lionel you are always in my prayers. Uncle Melvin, I am glad you enjoyed the fudge. Nancy give me a call after 9. Happy Belated Birthday to Nancy, I remembered but forgot to get on line to write and been real busy with things over here. I hope it was a good one. Yes Danny and I have celebrated 23 years together. He is soooo blessed. Ha! And he agrees with me too. Happy birthday to Annemarie too! and Happy Anniversary to Ce and Eugene #??????. For real now, good night and God bless each and everyone of you. Love , Martha Louise

Hi Family! Happy New Year to everyone! What a New Year's Eve we had! I dropped Charles off at his nephew, Johnny's, at 7:00 p.m. and went to my friends' house (tradition) for their party. At 12:30 a.m. I left and went to meet Charles. It was really cold and windy, too. There was a huge bonfire going with people sitting all around it, and bunches of people under the open patio gathered around Johnny's new Christmas toy - a karaoke machine. People took turns "singing" and then moving over to the bonfire to get warm and then back to the karaoke singing. We had so much fun - we didn't leave until 5:30 a.m. When we got home, we sat around toasting in the new year by ourselves, and at around 8:30 a.m. I was headed for bed. I mentioned to Charles that the Sugarbowl was going to start at 10:00 a.m. - and he said he had to stay up to watch his LSU Tigers! I crashed into bed right away, and Charles didn't come to bed until 1:00 p.m. I got up at 2:00 p.m. and he woke up at about 5:30 p.m., ate, and went back to bed at about 8:00 p.m. This year, we partied and celebrated more than all of our children combined! Of course, it also took us a lot longer to recuperate than it would have taken any of our children! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, MELANIE. My little girl is 35 today. Wow, that makes me pretty old. Love to all.

Pat, I think you are so right. Mom must have made over 2000. before I retired, I ordered 10 cases 240 balls to case, total 2400 for Elaine to give to Mom for Christmas. She paid $400 for min shipment. That was in 1992. I know she did not get to finish all, but Jeannette Started when Mom gave her some. I think that it was 6 balls for each child and grand child. Any way, MOM, we are showing them off for you.

My guess is about 1500-2000. In In the late 1989(I think) Mama was feathered at the Maison Duchamein St. Martinville In an excluve exhibt of her balls. I have some pictures I will look for and send to O.P. for the page. At that time we had 500+I think at the end she was making 4 balls for each child & grandchild each Christmas. Mel you might have some of those pictures? Maybe I wil get my home page on line in2003(ha).

Merry Christmas to everyone! I sent my Christmas tree picture to Uncle OP but I wish I could figure out how to send a movie because I have 6(had 7 but 1 motor burnt) of Grandma's Chritmas balls on spinning motors and they turn constantly when the tree lights are on. I picked out the ones with the most rhinestones to turn and they sparkle so much! (Cynthia I wish I had a silver tree like you and the spinning multi color light!) Looking at them I can almost smell the aroma of wet glue in Grandma's dining room and feel the prick of stepping barefoot on the stones, sequins and pins that her and Aunt Cile would accidently drop on the floor. I remember how Aunt Cile would squint so as she was trying to thread the needle to make the drops for the bottom and how Grandma would say, "Ah......just give it to me Lucile!" and she would thread it for her. Sometimes I would have to thread the needle for both of them! Grandma was so very proud of her balls and Aunt Cile was so proud to help her. Aunt Cile's part was an act of love for Grandma. I have balls from when Grandma first started making them and some from when she made pink ones for me to match my color scheme. Some of the later ones are not as ornate nor as precise as the earlier ones, but I cherish all of them. More than the balls though, I cherish my memories of the time I spent with Grandma while she worked on them. I miss her so much, but I know she doesn't miss me! There is only JOY in Heaven.....no sorrow......no pain.......no missing anybody! If there are Christmas trees in Heaven, I'll bet Grandma's on the decorating committee! If there aren't then she might suggest that they decorate the other trees anyway! May you all have a healthy, prosperous and blessed New Year 2003! All my love to everybody! Becky

If there aren't then she might suggest that they decorate the other trees anyway! May you all have a healthy, prosperous and blessed New Year 2003! All my love to everybody! Becky

Hi, Family: Merry Christmas to all of you. We had a wonderful Christmas this year. We had one group of family and friends over at our new house for lunch and then another group for supper. What a full day!! On Christmas Eve, after everyone was asleep, I had time to sit by myself in the den with the decorations lit up, the Nativity Scene glowing, and the old aluminum tree slowly rotating with the lights reflecting off of Grandma's Christmas Balls. I sat there for the longest time watching the ornaments as they went round and round - and I smiled as I picked out my favorites (the blue and green ones with a lot of sequins on them), the oldest (somewhat faded with old large beads and sequins, the funniest (I call it the "hulla skirt"), and the sentimental ones (like the one Grandma made for Mama with an "E" on it. I sat and remembered many of the Christmas Holidays as I was growing up that were spent with my family in Lafayette at Grandma's house, and it made me feel happy, peaceful and blessed to be able to have the memories of all those wonderful times. Charles and I hope to continue our tradition of having family and friends over at our house for Christmas Day, and hope that our children and grandchildren will be able to look back with fondness when these times are memories of their past. Love to all.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL THE FAMILY FROM THE CALIFORNIA DITCHS - This year has been a trying but eventful year for us. We did a lot of traveling. Went to Canada, Yosimite, Oregon, Miami, and New York. Had great times at all places. Had family reunion in Oregon with all the family. Saw the Rocketts at Radio City Music Hall, Statue of Liberty, Ground zero and stayed at Plaza. Gloria's cancer has grown so we decided to try an experimental treatment. The side effects are bad but she wants to try a little longer. We have Kent and Kelly for the holidays and will have the family over for Christmas dinner. Lynn and family could not make it this year. But Lynn did come for a few days last weekend. We are praying that next year will be a good one for Gloria. Thanks to everyone for your prayers. We hope that all the family will have a great holiday season and a good next year. Love to all. Hi, Family! Happy Holidays to all! Finally - I've gotten back online. Just got the new cable modem hooked up to my computer at our new home. It's faster than the old service I had, but now I'm told that my computer needs more memory (it's 5 years old now) and it's taking after me in the memory department. Our new place is wonderful - we've got over two acres of land around us, the trees are beautiful and the birds and squirrels are just beginning to realize that all the feed we've been hanging in the yard is for them. We have so many birds that I've never seen before. I might become a "bird-watcher" (we keep a pair of binoculars by the swing on the front patio). Charles has just finished his last bit of sanding inside the house, so I was able to dust and clean from one end of the house to the other in preparation for the family gathering we'll have for Christmas. Last night I finished decorating inside - putting up our traditional "aluminum tree" loaded with Grandma's beautiful ornaments. The rotating colored light is no longer with us, but as the tree rotates, it glistens and sparkles with all the "jewels" that Grandma used to decorate the balls with. I'll try to get Uncle O.P. some pictures of our home so he can put it on the webpage for y'all to see! We hope to be able to start working on putting our big pond in before spring gets here, and we'll be stocking it with fish to catch and eat. Charles and I are holding up pretty well (his bad back and my bad knees) considering all the hard work we've been doing to get this place livable. The children and grandchildren are all fine. John Paul is still going to college, Michael is still working hard for Makita Tools, Melanie and Eric just added a room onto their home and put in hardwood floors, Bo and Chelsea are doing great in school, Stacey is coming in this Saturday for the week with Ian and Michael (Dennis is out of the country on deployment with the Navy). I've been blessed with wonderful family and friends, a great job and boss, a beautiful home, and a loving relationship with the Lord that brings me great comfort and peace. These are my Christmas wishes for all of you. Love to all.

Happy Holidays! As some of you heard, Daniel's football team loss their game Friday night. there were more people from St.martinville thant the home team had. We gave it our all but came up short . Daniel got to play in the last 54 sec. of the game and the holder dropped the ball. It was soooo sad. they went further than anyone expected. Well, now that football is over, on no I forgot you all have to watch for Jacob at the Cotton Bowl. They will be playing Texas. Monique is now officially a senior at ULL and has maintained a 3.05555555. We are so very proud of her. She went up to Ruson to visit with all of her friends from LA Tech for a week. We moved her clothes and stuff back home but not her. She hit the road again. She will be traveling to Mexico again for a misssions trip. She will be working at an orphange from Jan. 6 to Jan. 13. Than school starts up again on the 16th, I believe. Daniel is driving all around town and more. I forgot how nice it was to have a goffer. Daniel is working with his dog Gus and Monique's dog Gabbie. We will soon have puppies I guess. What else????? That is what I get for living in the country. I hope that all are well and that you all enjoy the holiday's. Be safe and remember the reason for the season. Jesus Christ.!!!! Love to all, Martha Louise

Hello everyone, We all have been sooo busy, I know we have been not keeping up with the family page. So I will try to keep it short. First of all I am so Happy that Daniel, Ana and Alex are all doing well, I know we were all praying hard for their health. Carolyn We would love to hear what's going on. Hope you had a great Thanksgiving, we missed being with you all. I took a quick trip to NY,nov.15 then came back with Mary and the kids. The leaves were beautiful all over Mary lives now in the Bronx, a great old neighborhood. Had a good time Mary had a birthday party for both kids, Arsun & Gray what fun. ..We had a flat tire in Manhattan, Butch would have been proud of me changing a tire in NY ,cold and raining, I showed Mary how to kick off the lugs nuts with the wrench that we could not turn. but has soon as I got them all off, a nice man stopped to help...a little late, got the spare on went back around the corner to find a parking space and the spare went flat,,,it was a wild day...but the party went on at 1:30 and Mary and I arrived after the guest all dirty and wet with tire grease on our hands...We had just went to pick up a ham..Little did we know. Mom loved having the kids and Mary visit...The boys all have been hunting ...having a great time. They talked me into going to the Deer camp in MS. and having Thanksgiving. So I spent the night it was very cold and Richard the owner put on a big spread. I really had a nice time and didn't have to cook. I can see why the guys like it so much, it it really beautiful up there. and yes they are filling the freezer with game.. Justin in doing good at LSU,but I know he will be ready for Christmas break..Kyle is also doing great in high school. Butch has been busy with work and hunting..Maybe one day he will take sometime and go with me to NY. Jacob I saw you on TV. LSU should have won!!Keep up the good work. Daniel I hope your team goes all the way since Slidell High got knocked out last weekend...We were hoping they could have met you in the SuperDome! I can't belive it is Dec. all ready, I guess I need to get the hunting catologs out...

Yep! WE SAW HIM!!!!!!!!! We saw Jacob after the first TD. Nat'l TV. Front and center. Right there on the screen. How exciting! We called the kids and they looked for him the rest of the game. Don't know if they saw him at the end. Martha, things are jumping at your household, as usual. I'm sure you and Danny are enjoying it as much as the kids. We are driving down to Perry's Thurs for his Christmas concert. Looking forward to that. BUT snow MAY be coming our way. Love to all.

Hello everyone! Well, did all of you see Jacob on TV. We did , they had a real good shot of him right after the first touchdown and later in the last quarter. Yes it was a disappointing loss but there will always be another year and a bowl game to look forward to. Daniel's football team, St. Martinville Tigers have made it to the semi finals and will be playing OP Walker in New Orleans this friday. We beat Karr last week 42 to 7 and of course Dan made the final score. We are so proud of him. Danny and I are going by bus to New Orleans to watch the game. We think it may be moved to West Jefferson because the OP Walker field is pretty ratty. After winning this weeks game, God willing, we will travel to the Dome for the finals. That would be soooo exciting. Monique is finishing up with finals and has to move out of the dorms again. I think I have moved her about 20 times already. but that is ok. she is doing so well and keeping her grades up aboue 3.0 to keep her scholarships. Danny and I will be cooking for the football team again this week. They asked me if I would fix rice dressing for them if they won this last game. So I guess that is what I'll be fixin. I am sure tired of eating rice dressing for now. Probably won't fix it for Christmas. I say lets have crawfish! Well, I have to run for now. I hope all of you had a blessed Thanksgiving and love to you all. Martha Louise

HAPPY THANKSGIVING! Anybody remember how good Grandma's rice dressing always was? Yummy! Martha's rice dressing is almost as good (sorry Martha!) and can't wait to eat some creamed cauliflour! Jacob is traveling to Arkansas for the 1:30p.m. game on CBS. Dean, the twins and myself are going. We were going to drive but it looks like we might charter a plane and fly up the day of the game. It is actually just a little more expensive than driving if you consider hotel, gas, and feeding the twins! Anyway, watch for us on TV! Jacob was supposed to fry the 2 turkeys I have already injected with seasoning so I will just keep them in the fridge until Sat. and he will do it then. We have to save a little of everything for him so he can have Thanksgiving dinner on Sat. He was bringing the big LSU football player from Canada with him who was so excited to be eating his first "Bayou Thanksgiving meal" as he called it. Monique will probably meet him at the Henderson exit and bring him home to have dinner anyway. Well, ya'll have a great Turkey Day and remember to count your blessings and give Thanks for them! I really miss my Daddy at Thanksgiving because he loved to cook for his "chillen" Tommorrow is his birthday. I am thankful for all that God has blessed me with and can't wait to share in His glory with Grandma, Daddy, and all of my other loved ones in Heaven! I think when I get there I will truly be thankful that he loved us enough to sacrifice His son so that we all might one day live with him in Paradise! I can only imagine! I Love ya'll so very much! Hello everyone! Well mom is getting her new computer set up this weekend. She is lost without it. She wanted everyone to know that is why she had not written. Lili bit her computer. It was a dinosaur but it worked. Now she will have something a little faster and she will be able to see photos in her email. Daniel will be playing football at St. Thomas Moore Friday which is Meredith's school. Hope to see Carolyn and Meredith. We are hoping for cooler weather. The last game mom and I sat in the rain storm in Breaux Bridge. That was a sight to see. Rain capes and umbrellas! Monique has turned 20 years old. Oh my! She is still doing great in school and looking forward to finishing. Danny is trying to move all the pigs to the slaughter house. We will be cooking for Chi Alpha this weekend at ULL for homecoming. Danny will be smoking a pig and other meats for over a 100 kids. We will be starting around 6 in the morning. That will be lots of fun. We like to meet her friends. We did it for Dan's football team and will do it again at the end of the season. Well, praying for health in our families.Love to all, Martha Louise

Hi, Family: I AM SOOOOOO EXCITED! THE ELECTRICITY AND AIR-CONDITIONING IS ON AT OUR NEW PLACE! I know you guys in St. Martinville had to live without it for a while because of the hurricane. We didn't have to "live" without it - we just had to work without it for the last 5 months in the terrible heat. I AM SOOOO HAPPY! It finally seems like we're making progress - just one more room has to have the ceiling blown and walls textured, and then I can really dust and clean from one end of the house to the other - I can't wait! I'll send some pictures through Uncle O.P. for y'all to see. Happy Birthday, Aunt Shirley - you look as young and beautiful as ever. And Monique - "20"??? - WOW! David and Lucia, y'all look great. Melanie and her friend, Donna, gave their annual Halloween Party this past Saturday. Their theme this year was: Super Heros - or Make Up Your Own. Melanie came as Super Walmart, Donna was Super Glue, there was Wonder Bread and Garbage Man. Charles and I dressed as Super Size. We wore red capes with a big picture of a supersize order of fries on them, arm shields made from supersize fries containers, Charles had a supersize container stapled to his shirt as his top pocket (for his cigarettes), and we had blue masks with the "golden arches" sticking over the tops. Once we were dressed in our costumes and on our way to the party, we had to drive through McDonald's to get another drink cup for part of our costume, and you should have seen the looks on the employees' faces when we paid and got our order!!! Hey - we won Second Place! Got to go for now. Love to all.

Hello to all... Even though I don't know who most of you are, this is quite a treat to talk to you. I just can't tell you what a tribute to "Lil Moma" this site is! I was talking to my Dad and told him that I had run across this site. He wasn't suprised how devoted Martha's children were to her memory. Just as anyone, he only had words of praise. He recalls how hard she worked to support her family and what a wonderful human being she was... what a legacy she leaves with her family. I hope to get to know more of you through this site. I am Irvin Jr's youngest daughter, My grandfather was Clegg's brother. I went to Lafayette when I was about 10 yrs. old, we stayed at Aunt Martha's. I never realized she had so many children. I do recall that during one of Martha and Clegg's visits to California we went to Lionel's house, Gumbo was served of course! I remember having a great time. Don't like to admit it now but I'm 39. and it seemed Lionel had a daughter my age who had the greatest Barbie stuff! Maybe someone can refresh my memory as to her name. O.P., Denise my oldest sister is living in Culpepper, VA. Her husband recently retired from the army, I am sure she would love to hear from you. She has adopted four children from Russia, we are blessed with this addition to our family. I talked to Aunt Dot today, she is doing well, I was telling her that I had run across this site. She again said what a wonderful human being Martha was. She is so grateful for her devoted care to Mama. I asked her if she had been to LA. lately she said "With Martha, all my people have gone." I think it makes her very sad to think she is one of the last of her generation." I am sure she would love to hear from y'all. Well, I will sign off now, looking forward to getting to know the family better...Love, Suzie

Hello out there! This is a greeting from the 'Ville. We survived the storm. The winds were bad and we did get some damage to our home and property but we all all safe and grateful to the Lord for His protection. I loss a beautiful oak tree down my driveway, mom loss her wall under her carport(torn off like a sheet of paper) and the computer died, we all loss food(lots of it) and loss lots of sleep. It was sooooo hot. We had no electricity for six days and noooooo hot water either. A few took bathes in Becky's pool, real cold. One day I locked the bathroom and tried to take a cold shower thinking I was all alone in the house. Needless to say I screamed when the cold water hit me and Danny came a running to see if I was being killed or raped. I didn't know he would show up and it scared him. Mom, Becky and I were the last in town to get electricity. We had some really bad damage to the lines in our area. The sugar cane looked like it had never been planted. I saw my tree go down and moms wall take off. My fig trees are still up and so are the other fruit trees. Danny's pigs didn't float or fly away. My house was so dirty and I feel like I am still trying to get things cleaned. The porch and the barn are messed up and my freg. is still empty. Daniel and iwent shopping tonight and got a few things. It takes lots of money to stock up again. Our church has been damaged pretty badly, that is where Jewel goes to school too. We have the school gym to have services in and that is good. I know mom misses checking out lilmoma and I will try to let her use my computer until I can fix her up again. What a way to celebrate a birthday Butch! happy birthday to Eugene, October 16th. Hope is was good! Daniel and Anna the baby is soo cute. Sha! Baby! We have all been saddened by the passing of Uncle Roland. He will be missed by all of us. Daniel had been playing football and making the points too. We are going to watch again tomorrow night in New Iberia. I get so nervous when he plays but now I can watch. Monique will be 20 on October 20th. The big golden birthday. We will be having boiled crabs and shrimp on Sunday for her big day. Hello to Suzie! Glad to hear from you even though I don't know you. How is Aunt Dot? I thought I would have heard from her and Frankie on lilmoma's chat line. Do you see them or talk to them? If so, could you tell them that Martha Louise sends her love and to get on line with us. I would like to know how they are doing. I know I talk a bunch but haven't gotten on in a while and have been real busy. I will stop for now. Love to all of you and may God keep you all safe and happy.

Hello Suzie. I don't exactly remember you, but I do remember Irvin. He was the trumbone player in the big bands in LA, wasn't he? I also remember Irvin, Jr. Was he your dad? Yes, Martha (Mom) was a real jewel to everyone. We miss her. But I know she is happy we are keeping in touch through this Chat Room. Thanks for stopping by and encourage your side of the family to check in and let us know what is happening with the Verrets.

i feel that there is a separation in our family. I am suzie, Irvin's grandaughter.I don't think I have seen an entry from "our side of the family" I don't think that the Ditch family realizes that she is our "Aunt Martha, christmas ornaments and all" There isn't a one of us who doesn't cherish her! Aunt Martha was really the one who took care of Mama, No one is more sacred to us than Mama...She was her angel, please remember us , we love her too... I do not recall calling anyone aunt (besides Dot) than Martha. My brother is also Clegg, I think about your step-father daily, he truly was a great man..Love always...Suzanne E. Verret

Congratualations to Daniel and Ana! Lil babies are so special. How many decendants does Lil Moma have now? Carolyn, it is okay if you go nuts and spoiled your new grandchild! The pleasure and joy of being a Grandparent! Soooooooo happy to hear about the family in Louisiana. Glad you are all okay. Anxious to hear more of your experiences. Happy belated 47th birthday to Butch. Well, I can't believe it (as Martha would say). I still remember Butch running around Grandma's house as a 3 yr. old. You were such a bundle of energy. Good memories.

Yes what a two weeks we have had. Thank God we are all fine. It was nerve racking. No Sleep. But we had the boards up from last week and kept calling Carolyn and Martha. They really went throught it. All are fine. Carolyn and Robert are now Grandparents,Ana and Daniel have a new Baby Boy, Daniel Alexander James ,born Sept. 30 at 7:20pm, 7LB 7oz, 20 3/4 inches long. Ana was in labor 4 days. But all is fine and they are going home Friday. Congradulations!!!!!!They had lots of tree damage in there neighborhood. Their home is fine but no Electricity just like Martha's. They both went thru quite a storm. We are all so thankful that it had lost some of its power before hitting land. It was a cattorgy 2instead of a 4. We heard Martha had lots of wind damage and lost a large oak tree. I'm sure they will write when they can get back on. So Butch really had lots of wind last night for his birthday # 47. I hope this is the end of another Hurricane Season!!!

Hi, Family: Two hurricanes in two weeks!!! Hope we've seen the last one for this season! Slidell so far has done better with Lili than we did with Isidore. With all the hurricane commotion and preparation going on, I called Butch late last night to wish him a "Happy 47th Birthday" - and I told him that I was considering getting him a life-jacket as a present if we keep on getting these storms coming through. Because the weather and traffic was already getting bad, Michael was unable to get into Lafayette yesterday afternoon to pick up his mother so she wouldn't be at her apartment by herself. She was safe and sound when he spoke with her this morning. Our prayers are with our family in and near New Iberia/Lafayette for their safety. Love to all.

Thanks everyone for the birthday greetings!! Thinking of you Lynn and Eugene!!!! I am sure everyone is taking all the right measures to protect themselves from this hurricane. We have had 6 hurricanes in the last 7 years since I have been here and I know what you are going through. Most building codes make a house to survive winds of a Cat. 3 level. If Lilli stays a level 4 please take warning. I know that God will look over all of you and we will pray for your saftey.

Happy Birthday Uncle OP and Perry! It has been crazy here. Yes we are all fine in Slidell, Thank God. Butch and Kyle boarded up all the big windows and we also sandbaged the back doors and did the same at my Moms..It was such a large storm and it came in when it was high tide, no one expected it to do so much damage. Thank god we are not in the areas with so much flooding. Now we wait to see what LILI and KYLE will bring. Hopefully they won't come our way. Butch and I have only boarded up 3 times and left once for George. We had 24 inches of rain in 95 and we were fine. Justin stayed up at school. He was safer up there. He is doing Great and loves LSU. He was at the game yesterday and said it was soooo hot, it was an early game.

Hi, Family: Whew! We made it through Isidore high and dry. This was the first time that we went to get sandbags, though. Bo (11) filled up 22 bags for me so we could protect our side and back doors. We had a housefull - Melanie, Eric, Bo and Chelsea came to stay at our house last night - and we all stayed up talking, playing games, and watching the weather reports all night. Our street flooded for a while and we got some pretty heavy wind gusts, but we were really expecting more rain than we actually got - thank God. The tidal surge really came in high on our end of Lake Pontchartrain - a lot of the camps and homes along the lake got water in or under them and lots lost their runs. Our place on Lagrange Rd. didn't even flood, and it's in a low-lying area bordered on one side by a small bayou - not even a tree (and there are lots of them around the house) fell down. We had already moved in some of our furniture, and we had to send Michael and John Paul at the last minute to pick up the china cabinet and little buffet and put them up on top of the kitchen countertops. A levee caved in on the south side of town, which allowed enough water through to almost flood Michael's new house AFTER THE STORM HAD PASSED. Hope our relatives in the northeast needed the rain, because we sent it up that way! We were supposed to go to act of sale on Friday for our house on Independence, but because of the storm in the Gulf we couldn't get a homeowners policy written up on our new place, so we'll try for next week. It's back to work as usual tomorrow, so I'll close for now. Love to all.

There was also a picture of Dean and I (and Jordan under my armpit!) on the second page of the article but the pictures are no online. I hope you all enjoy reading the article as much as i did. Hi, everyone~! Happy Birthday Uncle Melvin! (and belated Happy Birthday to Karen!) I never will forget Uncle Melvin's Birthday, because it was the day Daniel was born 27 years ago!!!! The baby is due in about 4 weeks! The kids have decided that I need to be called Amiee. That is what they called Moma. I I am still not sure that I can be called that, because everytime they try it out, I think of Moma, and get really sad, but I guess I should be proud that they want their children to call me that. Kimberly has even said that when she is a grandmother, she wants to be called Amiee. I guess I will start a tradition in our family. I looked for Jacob, also! I can't wait to see him go in! Becky, you must be so proud. And Martha and Eugene, High School football is sooo much fun! Enjoy! Becky, you already know that!!! Meredith thinks so, too!!!! She is having so much fun being in High School! St. Thomas More is so big! and the bigger the better for that girl!~ She still is riding, although she has not competed lately, she goes to the shows to ride and warms up her trainer's horses for him....it is a big deal and she loves riding the big horses for those big Grand Prix classes! Right now, we she doesn't have her own horse, but rides horses for other people~ That is in our budget at this point and she still has fun and gets recognized. Everyone loves to see her ride, she is a natural. Butch and Nancy, I hope that you are adjusting to having Justin away at college! Cynthia, I hope that you and Nancy come in this weekend. Kimberly has moved out to my great aunt's house, here in Laf. so ya'll could sleep in her old room, formerly known as my office!!!!! We could stay up and have a slumber party!!! Aunt Gloria, I hope that you are doing well, you look just beautiful in the pictures that have been posted, I think of you so often....and Meredith is still telling her friends the story of when she went to California and got so sick on those Whale cookies!!! She really thinks that it was cookies that got her so sick!!! Well, better go now and get ready for work. love to all, Carolyn

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO UNCLE MELVIN AND KAREN! Sorry I haven't written lately but have had a few things to take care of and been really tired at night. I have a few minutes and it is late now. Daniel is continuing t do great in football and was nentioned in the newspape by his coach. He has always played flag football and this is his first year at the real thing. I think I will probably faint when he goes in for the first time, second time, third time..........and for Jacob too. Dan's first game is Friday and Jacob plays again on Saturday. Mom and I will wet to the core. It plans on raining this weekend. but we have the gear to sit in the rain.I fed the football team this weekend at my house. Danny bar-b-qued just about everything in the freezer. It was soooo good. they ate and ate and ate. We had snowballs and they played football of course. Dan has Jacob's electronic football thrower and we have our own football goal in the field. Needless to say they had a great time. I had to really clean up Dan's room though. Imagine this, his room (15 x 15) had all those boys in it playing TV games. Imagine the smell after they left. YUK!!! Monique is doing great at ULL. Memories of grandma's keep running back. She is a member of the Chi Alpha group and is already assigned a leadership role and plays her soprano sax during workship services. I can't wait to hear her. I am very proud of them both. Dany's baby pigs are almost ready for sale. Yea!!!! he has like 80 or so babies. I do not want to go count. Stink!!!!!!! I am really enjoying my time off to be with my kids. I hope all is well in California. Thank you Steve for talking with mom. Uncle Lionel and Aunt Gloria yo are in my prayers. Carolyn, will it be grandma, Nana, MeMe, Mamom ???????? It is coming soon. Uncle Roland, how are you doing? I bet you can listen to the LSU game on the radio and when you hear women screaming you can bet it will be Becky, Mom and I when Jacob goes in. Oh yea, Jared and Jordan have their football games on Friday afternoons and I think Eugene has his on Thursdays. I also believe Marie Louise has volleyball games too. Lots of events to keep up with. Mom will be busy. Pig shows will be starting soon too. There is much to do and I am soooo glad I retired. Justin, I hope you are enjoying the college life and getting some sleep and much studying in. Don't lose track of your goal. Kyle, what's up? Leave the girls alone for a moment and write us a note. Hope to see you Nancy this weekend. I'll call at night after 9, it free then. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO DANIEL LEE HEBERT JR -----16 years old! Sixteen years of blessings and many more to come. HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO KYLE TOO! I HOPE YOUR HUNT WENT GREAT. Justin you be good at college and remember Jesus is with you and watching over you all the time. There are sure plenty of birthdays during August, Jenna Grace's birthday is coming up too. She will be three already. Aunt Gloria and Aunt Shirley you both are lookin good. Uncle Lionel,Uncle OP and Uncle Melvin you too. The rain will not leave us alone down here. Too much of it. Yuk. Carolyn keep your head up and pray every day. God answers prayers to those who pray always. His will, will be done in His time. You know that already but someone else who reads this may not. Well, Daniel has adjusted to his new High School and practices football all the time. Anyone need a laugh, picture this. Martha and Daniel going to the football field. Martha is in her wheelchair and Daniel is getting ready to kick field goals. Martha is behind to goal holding her fish net to catch the balls Daniel kicks through the goal. Yes, I am getting good at it too. Daniel kicks for about 2 to 3 hours and mom catches the balls with her net. That is love! I do say that I was very tired and hot after all that. I think I will bring my power chair next time. Daniel kept looking for someone to come watch us or take a picture to send to the Funniest Home Videos show. I bet we could win something. Monique is hard at work in school at ULL. Taking 17 hours and will be finishing up soon and talking about graduate school out of state. Well, I have to run. Lunch is over and have errands to run. Love to all and prayers of course. All things are possible with God. Martha Louise

Hi, again! Kimberly made it home (by way of The United Arab Nations!!)She did not tell me that she was going that way and having a 4 hour layover....It is frowned upon for women to travel alone in that country...She had told me horror stories from her last trip and she knew I would worry. She told me that she had to look at the ground the whole time she was there, because women do not make eye contact with men there!!!! Anyway, she was fine and brought back some really beautiful items from Malaysia. David called last night to check on her and he sounded hopeful that he would be allowed to return to the US. As sad as Kimberly was, she feels that it is a good sign that the US is really checking into who is allowed to come to our country; With David's experience in Microtech and Microbiology, working in a reseach lab testing bacteria, etc, it was a red flag and they knew that it would be. His professors and the head of his research dept. even called the INS to say how valuable he is and that they are at a critical point in their research that could not be completed without him. The INS said that they still have to send his papers through Administrative Review. So, we will just wait and see what happens. Well, better go and get dressed for work...Monday morning!!!! Love, Carolyn

Hi, Family: We're still working on renovating the house we bought in May, and I've been working a lot of overtime lately. We're having some delays in the sale of our house, but are praying that all works out soon. Bo (6th grade) and Chelsea (1st grade) have started school - St. Margaret Mary (where Mel & Glenn Jr. went). Charles is feeling fine lately, but he just has to take it easy. WE were hoping to take a trip to Tennessee in a few weeks, but I'm not sure we'll be able to make it. It sure is fun keeping up with Uncle O.P. and Aunt Shirley's travels! They appear all over the place - and I know they're enjoying it! My prayers are with all of you. Love to all.

Hello everyone, Yes it has really been a stressful week...Justin is up at LSU.He moved into his dorm last Wed. He will be starting school on Monday. It is hard not having him at home. But we are so excited for him..And yes I cried. I know he is just an hour and 1/2 away. We just have to get used to this. Kyle has started High School and loves it. He can't wait for baseball to start in Jan. Butch and Kyle went down to the duck camp Sat. to work alittle and to shot Kyle's new riffle that he got for his birthday. Now I just have to get back into the routine. Carolyn We send prayers your way... I hope they clear up this thing with David, Kim's Friend, he is such a great guy,and I can't wait for Justin to meet him..We can't wait for that new baby, I know how cute Daniel was! Hope Kim got home safe. Meridth how is high school??? Love to you all, Nancy

Well, things look real slow in the chat room, I guess everyone is busy with school starting and work, babies and just making the most of your time!! Well, Kimberly will be back from Malaysia this evening at 6:30. She called when she got to Newark, so we know that she made it back safe to the states. She went with her boyfriend, from Malaysia (living in New Jersey, working in New York); He was supposed to renew his visa and come back with Kimberly, but his visa was sent for Administrative review and they don't have any idea of how long or if they will renew it. It is really so sad, he has a scholarship at NYU and is working on his masters degree in I.T.; He has two degrees from NYU in microbiology and microtechnology (which is probably what sent up the red flags) He also has a job in the research dept. of NYU University and is working on cancer research. He is such a really wonderful person, so everyone please keep him in your prayers! Daniel and Ana are helping Dad out, while Faye is at work. Ana is due in 5 weeks and is just so cute! I cannot wait for the baby! Daniel will continue to help Dad after the baby is born. Daniel is still unable to work, due to the side effects of vancomyicin he had to take IV to help get over that Staph infection. Pray for him also, and of course for Dad. I am at work, and better go now, have to go to the barn to watch Meredith ride, then to pick up Kimberly at the airport. Keep in touch! Love ya! Carolyn

Happy Birthday Jacob! Jacob is at LSU Football 2adays right now. He is doing great and is playing Fullback. We went to see him at press day and he was interviewed by the news media. We will let you know the site to read about him when it comes out. Daniel is playing football too and had his photo shoot today. He is the place kicker, extra points and is getting better with the punting. SMSH has three kickers and they all have different strengths. I am getting excited to see both of them play. Monique has moved to Lafayette and is living is the dorms. They are real old too. She is happy to be living on campus again and school starts for her on Monday. She will be finish before you know it and moving off to graduate school. Hey, Nancy and Butch are probably moving Justin in the dorms at LSU. Nancy, you will survive. It has not stopped raining over here and it is messy. Daniel has a new motor vehicle, a Chevy Blazer. the red Dodge Dakota has moved on down the road. This is an early birthday and college present. I get to use it until he goes to college. When he leaves I guess i will have a chance to get myself a car. Danny has too many baby pigs in the barn, like over 80 I think. I can not wait for the sale to come. Well, I have to fix something for Dan to eat. Sorry I haven't been on lately. Love to all, Martha Louise

One day OP, Roland and I were working in the IPG computer room. We called Lil Moma and were having a conversation about names. Again she told us that OP was named after Dr. O.P. Daly. Then Roland asked her how he got his name. She said, "I guess cause you came ROLLIN' out. Roland asked his mom if he could use that. She said, "yes." And that's the story of how Roland got his name. He! He!

Hi, everyone, today is Dad's Birthday. He is in the hospital in New Iberia. He had several new pin strokes, that makes it difficult to speak clearly or to get what he is saying out. If anyone wants to wish him Happy Birthday, e-mail a message to me, for him, at caro53@bellsouth.net and I will bring them to him this afternoon. We are having a party (even an accordian player is coming to play) at 5:00pm. So get the messages in before 3:30pm (our time). He cannot see (hardly at all, so he cannot use his computer, which has been very hard for him. I loved reading everyone's memories of Grandma. And most of you are like myself, I could have said so many more. And I will add One more...whenever I found myself having to deal with a difficult situation that I did not think that I could handle...I would run to Grandma's, sit at her feet, put me head in her lap and cry. She would pat me for a few moments, then in a semi-stern voice say:" get up and dry those tears! you are just going to have to handle it, do as I do...Put one foot in front of the other, hold your head up high, handle whatever it is, never look back and do not have any regrets about your decision! Just keep on looking forward!" Then she would give specific advise on the situation and put everything into perspective for me. I know that she did this for many of us and now I tell my children the same thing, (of course, giving Grandma the credit for being so wise!) They just stop, look at me and hug me! What a gift she gave me. I even have to resort to telling friends this quote! Oh, how many times I have said it~! Love, Carolyn

Imaginez leur conversation. Grandma and I would talk for hours in french and Martha couldn't understand a word we were saying. She loved talking about her family and the old times. She always said I reminded her of Clegg. When she found out that Martha and I were going to be married she pulled out her red wallet and gave me Clegg's wedding band. I am still wearing it today. I was very touched that she would do that for us. I know Martha was very close to her grandpa and that meant alot to the both of us. I used to park in her front yard and bring her barrels of tomatoes and she would just have a fit. It took her and Aunt Cile days to put it all in the freezer but she never wasted one. I think she liked Roland's tomotoes better. She was loved and is missed by all. Danny

It is a good thing that I do not speak as much as my mom and sister do. I remember always going to grandma's and bringing her french fries and going to get a snowball at the corner store. She liked that alot too. I remember playing on the floor and having to watch out for the pins. The purple tub and sink were weird to me but she liked them. I miss her, Aunt Elaine and Aunt Cile and oh remember them always doing each others hair at the table where we played cards. Hoping to see them all again one day. Love, Daniel Lee

well i dont have as many memories as some of yall old folks but the ones i do have of grandma i treasure. grandma inspired me(as she did almost everyone). when i was in jr. high i did a social studies project on grandma and her ball making. 9see picture in photo room) well that was awesome. i got to interview her and discover a life of grandma i had never known. i learned about her time of being a single mother, her times of poverty, and her times of being a well known seamstress. i rememer her bedroom, the bottles of perfume on her dresser, the wigs at the top of her clost (which i wear to this day for skits and playing around) i even remember playing dress up in her blue polka dot dress. i remember learning to play cards with grandma, learning to make balls too. i have many memories. i also got her this copper rose that smelt so good in texas one time because she always said that she loved roses and she wanted them on her grave when she died but she knew that if ppl. would put them there they would eventually die. so i bought her a rose that would never die. she loved it. i know that meat alot to her too. but i think the one I remember the most is when my mom and i were in lafayette one day and i really wanted to go visit grandma. my mom said no we are late for whatever we had to do that day. i begged and begged. finally she was willing to stop. so we stopped and as always when i got down i hugged grandma and she stood up and i said look grandma i am taller than u today. boy what a goal in life i had to be taller than grandma. i finnaly made it too. i know we didnt stay long that day but she was so glad to see us. i thin kit was like 2 days later when she died. i am so blessed to have seen her before she passed away. i miss her- like all of us. she is my grandma. one day i hope i will fulfill another life goal of mine- to be as good of a grandma as she was. she is deeply missed and deeply loved. sincerely monique (marthas daughter)

Before I met Mrs. Verret, I knew she had to be very special because Roland would always talk about her with so much love and admiration. After I met her, I could see why. She made me feel so special and had so much love for all her family. I remember us coming in from Virginia and Roland sitting on the edge of the coffee table by her chair looking like a little boy talking to her. Since his strokes, Roland can not always remember his birthdate, but when you ask him his Mother's birthdate, he knows that and then knows his, because his is the day after. HAPPY BIRTHDAY MOM! from Roland and Faye

These are my memories of Gramma. Any visit to Lafayette always included Grandma, whether we were there to shop or to go to get the cars fixed, Gramma's house was always a place to go. Upon entering I always remember walking into the kitchen, then into the dining room where I would see Gramma sitting at the famous "Playing" table (which we all crawled under from time to time) working on the Christmas balls that she would dish-out once she was finished. After being humbly greeted, hugged, and kissed by Gramma, it was a race to the back rooms where we would search hi and low for Aunt Elaine's candy stash. In loving memory of Gramma, Little Eugene

Grandma touched so many of us in so many ways. Grandma never held back any punches. When she thought you were doing something she did not like, she said it. I lived with Grandma for 1 year while I was in college and I thank God I had that opportunity to get to know her more. Oh the storys I could tell about my experiances both good and bad, mostly for the good though. OK, so I don't keep up with Young and the Restless as much as I did with Grandma but I still remember watching it every day at 11am with her. Grandma always had good advice for me. Yes Grandma I am finally saving my money! Your spirit lives in me and I can already see it does in my two sons.

What I remember best about Grandma was how she always showed so much love for everyone. She had so many people throughout the generations that she loved so much and cared for, I have trouble imagining how big her heart must have been to hold all of that love that she had for everyone. I also remember her prayer list was almost endless. Grandma was a truly special person who I will always remeber and hold dear in my heart.

Well, this is my second attempt to write something here today. I tried earlier and had t stop. There is so much to share. I was so blessed to have had been so close to grandma. When we were young, it was such a pleasure to go over. I can still rmember the smell of rice dressing, stuffed bellpepers and carrot dressing. I remember the times of going to her house and sitting around the big table and showng her and Aunt Cile and grandpa all the stuff we had bought after our power shopping trips. Of course we had to try everything on and model. Every time we went over, it seemed to be the thing to sit around the table and chat. And of course we would never sit on her stack of pillows on her hair. I remember her teaching me how to sew and make patterns from paper bags and holding the pattern down with ash trays and not pins. I got the hang of it after a while but not as well as her and Cile. I remember her teaching me how to make the christmas balls, how to cook, and showing me how to love unconditionally. When I was attending USL, she and grandpa and Aunt Cile spoiled me even more than I was already. Grandma(with help) would wash my clothes, fold them and have them ready for me to go in just hours. She fed me just about every day and would even pick me up from class on rainy days. Spoiled or what! You all know I ate well too. We played cards and of course watched the soaps. She always called me Martha Louise. She was such a good listener and always had good advice. I remember living in the dorms at USL and at night often got locked out after hours. Long time ago(HA!) they locked the dorm doors at 11 and you could not get in after that unless you woke up to dorm mom and she didn't like that. Well I needed a place to sleep and I was not going home so I would knock on grandma's bedroom window and she would let me in. She knew I was out dancing and it didn't matter what time it was she always opened the kitchen door and we would fix something to eat and chat a while at the big table. She fussed about the driving late at night by myself but always asked me if I had a good time. We had a special knock after a while because she was afraid I would wake the neighbors. She really enjoyed hearing all about my dates. One more story and I will stop. This one is really good. I was selling concessions at one of the Livestock shows and this guy was asking all the girls out on a date. I noticed they all told him no and he finally came around to me and I know I was the last one and I felt so sorry for him being rejected so many times that I said OK. That night I found out why all the girls told him no. I really thought the guy was nuts, retarded. I went to see grandma as usual and we talked about the date. She told me I should not talk bad about people. Good advise. I told her he was really retarded and she told me "You shouldn't talk bad about that man because you will marry him one day." I thought grandma had lost it herself. She never even met the nut. How did she know that one day I would marry him? And all of you know, I married the nut. She loved him so much too. They would talk french for hours and she said he reminded him of Clegg. That Big Table was always the place to be when you were at grandma's. So much was shared there. This chat room is like her Big Table. We may not be able to share with grandma now but we can share with each other and keep in touch just as she would have wanted. She lived and loved for a long time and I know I will live my life as Christ wants me too so I can see her again in heaven. The picture I sent was taken after Aunt Cile's funeral at the Big Table. Believing in Jesus Christ as our Lord. Love you all, Martha Louise.

It truly is beautiful to see the family coming together on Grandma's 100th birthday to honor her life. She had such a strong spirit, one that inspired everyone that knew her. We are blessed to have her as part of our lives. God knew how amazing she was, I believe that's why He allowed her to live such a long and healthy life....so she could teach us to live with generosity, kindness and love. The love that the members of this family has for each other is a reflection of the love she once gave to us. Thank you for the life you gave us, thank you for your love. Happy Birthday Grandma!

Miss you Mama. I would first say Thank you O.P. for creating Mama's Computer Home. She told me so many times "When I am gone My home will be sold and My Computer Home will be there to keep you'll together". Having a home was so important to her because she wanted the whole family to know what was going on with each other, since she wouldn't be there to tell everyone as she did by telephone. I remember how she waited for Lionel to get his computer, as he was the last to get one. She told me after that happened, now I can go you'll have another home. I have to much to remember to put down today. will tell you'll more later. But remember her Chrismas balls given to her family was very important to her as she said 'I donot have money to leave only these balls" So treaser these . She would not give to anyone but family. If any one does not have one please let me know and I will sent one to you. When I feel I have yo talk to Mama I sit at the Computer and read Lilmama' Chat Room. Love to all Aunt Pat

Well, I wish Grandma were here today, but I know that she is looking down on us and is so happy that we are all in touch....Happy Birthday, Grandma! There were so many times and so many things that she did for me, especially after Moma died. She told me that she knew the pain of losing a mother, so she would try to fill that gap for me. And, boy did she never stopped trying, she called me every day, if I wasn't home...She would leave a message, "just checking on you, call me" So, we talked just about every day. I swear, she had a radar detector in her head. When Daniel was graduating from boot camp at Fort Sills, Ok. We flew into Oklahoma City the day before the bombing. We drove about 1/2 an hour to our hotel. I forgot to tell anyone where we were staying. The very next morning, when we turned on the tv we saw that the bombing had taken place....then the phone rang, it was grandma...she was so worried that we were downtown Oklahoma. I asked her how she found out where we were...she said that she had her ways! I still do not know how she found out! She helped me through so many tough times, I could write for hours, but, will not do that, so don't worry! But she, along with moma taught me how to be a mother, and I will never stop missing them both! Love to everyone, Carolyn

I always admired Grandma for her courage(raising 6 children in tough times), her determination (She always used to encourage me when I would complain or say I couldn't do something. She would say, "You just have to DO IT Rebecca!" Too bad Grandma hadn't sold her idea to NIKE!), and her true unconditional love for ALL of her children. No matter what, she loved everybody and for those of us who needed a little guidance she would add us to her prayer list;-) As a mother I understand that unconditional love and pray that I have inherited from Grandma the courage and determination to live as long and as happy as she did. O.K. Now I have to stop crying and tell you all my story! I was 5.5 months pregnant and going for an ultrasound because the Dr. thought I was a little big for 5.5 months. Dean was in a meeting, Martha was at work, and ultrasounds made Moma nervous so I brought a video tape with me for everybody to watch later. After one pass of the wand over my belly the tech turns the machine off and just stares at me. I sat up on the table and thought something was wrong. She said, "Do twins run in your family?" I fell back on the table and cried, "Oh no! I can't do this!" I was working, going to night school for my Masters and had Jacob, how could I handle twins! I drove straight to Grandma's (I had no cell phone at the time....I don't think anybody did!). I ring the door bell and little Grandma opens the door, Aunt Elaine comes out of her room and I think Aunt Cile was glued to The Young and The Restless;-) I said, "Guess what?" Grandma was standing right in front of me and looking up at me she said, "You're having twins!" I hadn't said a word, showed a picture or anything! I don't think she even knew where I had been! Amazing! I laughed and we all sat down and laughed and laughed! I sat on Grandma's bed and she sat right next to me as I called Dean with the news! I told her, "I don't know if I can do this!" Guess what she said? "Rebecca, you are just going to have to DO IT! That's all there is to it!" You can see the special love in her eyes in the picture with the twins. I'll bet Grandma is having a "grand" time in Heaven...I can't wait to meet her there!

Hi everyone! This is Karen from Va. First I want to tell everyone I LOVE reading Grandmas message board. It's great to hear what everyone is doing. Thanks dad for setting it up. Uncle Melvin and family, I want to tell you that ya'll are in my thoughts and prayers. I'll be looking for you on IM. Now to Granny, (that's what I called her). One of my favorite memories is when we were younger and we would visit in the summer. Grandma's kitchen was filled with people cooking and eating all the favorite Cajun foods. Me being a Cajun who doesn't like seafood, granny would always cook me a hamburger. That made me feel special. HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY GRANNY!!!! Love to all!!! from Karen, Steve, Steven, Tim and Laura Dominick

So many beautiful memories. This is a great idea, Cynthia! I remember seeing the picture of her with the beads and Nancy, I remember the picture of her with the Long Johns. What a fun person she was and the heart of the family. The thing I cherish the most is, being far away, when we would call her she knew ALL the news about the family. So we always knew what everyone was doing. We were able to stay connected with everyone. That is the legacy she left with us. Stay connected. Thank you Lil Moma and HAPPY 100TH BIRTHDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

Chelsea was only 2 years old when she last visited her Great-Great-Grandma. Amazingly, she talks all the time about how Grandma would kiss her on her "little eyes". She also says she misses her, and has drawn her picture with pretty wings on her back. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GREAT-GREAT GRANDMA!

I remember visiting Great-Great-Grandma's when I was about 5 years old - and not only playing under her table, but I accidentally got myself locked inside Granny's "toy trunk". Boy, was there a lot of excitement! Great-Great-Grandma finally got me out with a butter-knife! Happy 100th Birthday, Great-Great-Grandma - and thanks for saving me!

When Glenn Jr. and I were small, we were in the kitchen when Great-Grandma was getting ready to cook shrimp and okra gumbo. Aunt Jeanette was helping her cut the okra, and Glenn and I were taking pieces of okra and sticking them on our faces. Great-Grandma was not sure if she had enough okra for her gumbo, so she said, "Don't y'all be sticking all that okra on your faces then putting it back in the bowl." So Aunt Jeanette didn't say anything, she just kept on cutting - and she snuck us a whole bowl of okra pieces - and Glenn and I ran to the back room and played all morning putting okra all over ourselves - and Grandma never knew! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GREAT-GRANDMA. I LOVE YOU VERY MUCH.

The things I remember and miss most about Grandma is whenever Cyndy and I would visit - it was always Grandma and myself up early having coffee and waiting for Melvin to bring the newspaper. It was then that she shared so many stories of her childhood, her family, and the ways she made money to help raise them. But mostly, the fondest memories I have of Grandma is the smile and happiness she brought to Cyndy's face whenever we would visit her. Last of all, I was happy to call her "Grandma". Happy Birthday, Grandma.

Cynthia's Special Memory of Grandma: 12/98 and Christmas was fast approaching. Since we have a houseful of relatives staying at our house every Christmas, Charles and I drove to Lafayette on Christmas Eve to give Grandma and Mama their presents. We had decided to give them the "12 Days of Christmas" this year. They sat on Grandma's bed and started with number 12 on down to number 1: 12 DAYS OF HOUSECLEANING - 11 SWEET POTATOES - 10 PEACOCK FRAME PICTURES - 9 ROLLS OF TOILET PAPER - 8 MILK CHOCOLATE SANTAS - 7 POWERBALLS - 6 BOXES OF HONEY BUNS - 5 BOXES OF INSTANT GRITS - 4 POUNDS OF COFFEE - 3 STUFFED ARTICHOKES - 2 CHRISTMAS STOCKINGS - 1 VIDEO OF OUR CAMP & FAMILY. We all sang the song and laughed and laughed with each present they opened! But when Grandma got to opening her stocking…I'll never forget the look on her face - her eyes got wide, she smiled like a little girl, her eyes twinkled - and she hugged the stocking to her chest and said, "I've never gotten a stocking of my very own before! It's beautiful!" It made me feel so good to be able to see her so happy, after all she had done for me in my life. I had found her a green velvet stocking that had beaded Christmas balls all over the front of it! And I had stuffed it with beautiful Mardi Gras beads that she could use to make her balls. She put all her beads on, and held onto that stocking as we were leaving, when she said to me at least 3 times, "Cynthia, I want you to have this stocking when I'm gone", and she would hug it and then nod her head looking at it and smile at me. Every Christmas, Grandma's stocking hangs in our home along with those of the rest of our family, as we gather to celebrate the holidays just like Grandma has taught us to do. Grandma, you are my inspiration and I miss you so much. My favorite picture is the one I took of Grandma that day with her beads on - in her chair - talking on the phone. I've found myself several times looking at that picture on my dresser, and picking up my phone to talk to her. She's never really left any of us - her boundless spirit is in each person who knew her - she's just a heavenly phone call away! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, GRANDMA - I LOVE YOU.

Happy 100th Birthday Grandma! I think of you so offen. I think just how lucky I was to marry Butch and to be part of such a loving family! When I met you , you filled a place in my heart that I had been missing since losing my Grandmother "Alice" when I was 14. You became my Grandma too! I have so many great memories, but this is one of the funniest. Grandma was always cold in the winter, so for one Christmas I found this red and white striped lady's longjohns with feet, and a traped door. She looked so cute! She could have been one of Stanta's elf's. Well Grandma loved it. But found the traped door to be to much trouble. A picture is worth a thousand words!

Happy Birthday Grandma !!!!! 46 years 304 days ago you became my Grandma and what a Grandma you were. I have many fine memories of you. From playing under your dinning room table to living in the back room while going to USL and having lunch with you everyday while we watched The Young and Restless. But my best personal story I had with you that not many people know about is the evening you, Aunt Ceil and I jumped in - I mean pushed you up in , my 1979 ford bronco and headed from Slidell back to Laf. It was about 7PM when we took off down I- 12. One hour into the trip my lights started to dim. I looked down at my AMP meter to see it heading down to zero. Grandma and Aunt Ceil quickly pulled their rosary's out and started praying. Good thing they did by the time we reached the first exit the truck power shut down and we coasted into the only business at this exit and it was a full service gas station getting ready to close. The lord was with us because the station owner drove a bronco and sold us his alternatior out of his truck, helped me put it in and said he would replace his is the morning. Well I got grandma home a little late but all in one piece.

Hi, to everyone! To Uncle Melvin and all of your family, I know the pain of losing a mother, grandmother and best friend. It hurts beyond belief....but time will help. It has been 9 years, Nov 16, since Moma died, and I still grieve her loss more than I ever imagined. Anyway, to Cynthia, I think your Idea is great, I will get all of my family to write up a favorite memory of grandma. I have so many, that I will have to sort through them, so not to bore everyone and give someone else a chance to speaK!!!!! Anyway, this is a great way to honor Grandma's 100th Birthday. I hope everyone participates! Love, Carolyn

Hi, Everyone! I sent this message to all the family last night that I had e-mail address for, but I didn't want to miss any friends or relatives out there, so I'm posting this to the Chat Room, too: Wouldn't it be great for all of us to celebrate Grandma's 100th Birthday if each one of us (family and friends) would come up with a special moment/story/memory (especially if it's one that's new to most of us) that they have of Grandma, and share it with everyone on the web page. Think about it, and then get everyone in your family (husbands, wives, children, grandchildren, etc.) to write in their treasured memory on the family web page. These will be our presents to Grandma on her birthday, so don't give them to her until after 12:01a.m. Central Time, on Saturday, August 3, 2002, - her 100th Birthday! Can't wait to read all the stories!!! Also, if anyone has a special picture either to go with their story, or just a favorite picture of Grandma (young or old) please send it by e-mail to Uncle O.P. right away (before you post your story), making sure that you say who's favorite picture it is, and he'll post them to the web page so we know whose story they're associated with. Love to all.

Hello family! Sorry I haven't been putting much into the chat room. Have been busy these days. First and update of Gloria. The Doctor says her tumors are getting larger and more of them so that the liver is swelling again. She will have to go back on a more powerful chemo when we come back from our vacation at the cabin in Oregon. We are praying that the new chemo will slow the tumors down. Please remember her in your prayers. Well it looks like each of the Ditch families have some kind of illness to pray about. Hope and pray for all of the families. We have just got back from a trip to Canada with some friends from the country club. Went to Banff and played golf and had a great time. The area is really beautiful. Now we are getting ready to go to our cabin in Oregon at the lake. All of our family will be going too including our great grandson. We will have 20 people including 2 of Lynn's friends and a friend of Shawna. Todd will be there too. We are praying for all the sick people. Hope you all get better. Love Lionel

We made it back to Maryland. Can you believe the entire trip we had no major traffic congestion until the day we were heading back into MD. 10:30 pm Friday stuck in traffic at the Wilson Brige (Border of D.C. and MD). We are so happy to have the oppportunity to see you all. We were able to visit with Uncle Melvin and Aunt Janet, Uncle Roland and Faye, Carolyn and family, Babara and Ricky Gutierrez, Martha, Eugene, Aunt Pat, and Becky. Mom 's two brother's uncle Bob and June and their wives Aunt Helen and Gert. Thank you Eugene and Martha for letting us stay in your homes. We learned so much about the Acadiens thanks to Aunt Pat. Acadien museum is a must see in St. Martinville. Aunt Pat did an amazing job putting all these information together so that now we can enjoy it. Christopher was sick on Wednesday and thought we would need to stay one more day but by Thurday he was mostly back to his old self.:)

Hello everybody_____This is not an eazy task for me, but here is the update on Jeannette, my dear wife of 55yrs and mother of 6 beautiful children. After carefull consideration, and knowing that I could not give her 24hr care as she will need,we placed her in a home that will take care of her. She looks happy, and I hope and pray she will be happy. If, at a later date she improves and is able to care for herself, we will get her back home."PRAY". The place is only down the street from me, off South College Rd. on Bacque Cresent dr. It is called IHS. She is in room 116 with another lady Ms. Hollier. I visit her everyday. I would like to thank, my sons Tom &Wayne and My sister Patricia, who has helped so much putting this together for me. I could not have done it alone.
